The Last Stomp From Your Team Captain

Posted August 31, 2013 by Jennifer in Stomp vs Romp 2013 | | 38 Comments

All month long you’ve heard from the members of TEAM STOMP, both authors and bloggers alike. They’ve talked about their books or their favorite book/characters that can put the STOMP on their enemies. And yes many of the STOMPERS do enjoy a little somethin’ somethin’ from the romp side. After all, all that STOMPING gets the heart rate up and makes you glad you’re still alive so why not celebrate a great STOMP with a romp afterwards.

But there are only so many ways to get creative with the romping. It takes a truly masterful heroine or hero to keep the STOMPING creative. So I’d like to leave you with some of my favorite ways that my favorite stomper takes down the bad guys.

Ms. Gin Blanco from Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series. Oh sure Gin excels at using her 5 point arsenal of silverstone knives but they are certainly not a crutch for her. Just take a look at some of the ways she’s killed with things that were just within her reach when a knife was not handy.

  • Screw to the throat
  • Pen to the balls (My personal favorite)
  • Electrocution by computer
  • Crowbar
  • Paint brush handle through the eye
  • Ice knife
  • Spear

When it comes to Gin Blanco, aka The Spider, she’s too busy STOMPING the bad guys to talk about her feelings. I’ll leave you with some Gin quotes and you tell me which you prefer? STOMP or Romp.

“No, we didn’t really get a chance to talk about anything. There was just blood, dead giants, and a lot of awkward pauses.” – Deadly Sting

“Have I ever told you how scary it is that you think of heels in terms of their possible shiv potential?”  – Deadly Sting

“Emotions were for those too weak to turn them off.”  – Spider’s Bite

“You can work with me—or you can wade through the blood and bodies after I’m done.”  – Spider’s Bite

“Killing people was far easier than making polite chitchat.”  – Tangled Threads

Open to anyone that can receive books from The Book Depository or ebooks from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

I’m giving 2 winners a chance to win books about my favorite STOMPERS.

2 winners will get to pick 2 books, from the series below. You can pick from the same series or mix and match.

I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two chilled cats in the Deep South.

After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.

While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).

there’s just so many, a new favorite is Suzanne Johnson, I love Cecy Robson, and Jeanine Frost. Chloe Neill, Kelley Armstrong, and Karen Marie Moning. now that I’ve listed pretty much all my favorite authors, I’m going to leave now! thanks!!!!!

Kate Daniels is awesome, so is Mercy Thompson, but everyone keeps mentioning those. Gin is my must buy as well, I just got the new booked and am soooo excited. I also really like Diana Rowland’s White Trash Zombie books (not sure if they are quite urban fantasy), but Angel kicks major ass and she is hilarious, so that is my new recommendation.

  3. My ultimate favorite is Kate Daniels! (which you’ve already mentioned :P)
After checking your favorites list, most of the other books I’d recommend are already there..perhaps the Charlie Madigan series by Kelly Gay?

  4. Jbst

I’m so behind in reading these great UF stories. I’ve been reading the Araneae Nation series by Hailey Edwards which is really good.

  5. Jordan R.

Mercy and Kate are my all time favorites, but there are so many other great ones out there! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  6. Stephanie H.

Definitely the Hollows! It’s my favorite current series. Right up there is Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series. I also love Mercy Thompson, the Night Huntress (which has a little extra romp), and Sandy Williams’ Shadow Reader series.

  7. Laurie

Charley Davidson, Mercy Thompson, but these have all been mentioned. I read one book from this series and I will read the other 2, the Mortal Path series by Dakota Banks.

  8. Jen

In addition to the Elemental Assassin series, i also love the Chicagoland Vampires, Night Huntress, and the Throne of Glass series!

My favorites are the Elemental Assassin and Jane Yellowrock, and it looks like you already like those. How about Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid series or Kelly Gay’s Charlie Madigan series, those are great too. 😀

    • TheBookNympho

I have Charlie Madigan books sitting on my book shelf. And Iron Druid on my library audio wish list.

    • Ooh, and speaking of Jane Yellowrock, how could I have forgotten CE Murphy’s Urban Shaman series? I usually like more romance in my books, even a UF series, but the slow burn in those seriously pays off in the most recent book.

Elemental Assassins and Kate Daniels are two of my favorite UF series. If you like darker UF with lots of action, I’d also recommend the Horngate Witches series by Diana Pharaoh Francis, and either of Karen Chance’s series – Cassie Palmer or the Dory Basarab series – they are both nonstop action.

Besides all my favorites you already have I’d say Christina Henry’s Black Wings series, Seanan McGuires October Daye, Adrian Phoenix’s Makers Song and Tracey O’Hara’s Dark Brethren series.

My favorite is Kim Harrison’s The Hollows and Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen series (which I guess also follows under romp)

  13. Aimee

I love Kate Daniels and also Rachael Morgan by Kim Harrison. The Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs are also really good.

  14. You guys presented a fantastic month of posts for us. Thank you!

I recommend the Charley Davidson series (First Grave… etc.) by Darynda Jones and the Alex Craft series (which I just discovered) by Kalayna Price.

    • TheBookNympho

Thanks. We have fun with this event. It’s our 2nd year and as long as our schedules allow we’ll be back next August with it.

Charley is great. I have Alex Craft on my TBR.

I’m just now starting the Hollows series and I’m liking it so far. Love MT. Thanks

  17. Gin’s definitely one of my all-time fav stomp-ers but even she needs some “stress relief” from time to time. Good battle this year Jennifer, now we just have to sit back and let the voters decide the winner!

    GO ROMP!!

  18. apart of your selection ( that i love except for on,ce serie i haven’t started but is on my wishlist)…i think the october daye serie by seanan mcguire would be a great addition ( or her INcryptid one too)
