In this paranormal story from the Deep Kiss of Winter anthology, #1 New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole delivers a breathtaking tale about a brutal vampire soldier who experiences love for the first time...and a Valkyrie aching to be touched.

Murdoch Wroth will stop at nothing to claim Daniela the Ice Maiden -- the delicate Valkyrie who makes his heart beat for the first time in three hundred years. Yet the exquisite Danii is part ice fey, and her freezing skin can't be touched by anyone but her own kind without inflicting pain beyond measure. Soon desperate for closeness, in an agony of frustration, Murdoch and Danii will do anything to have each other. Together, can they find the key that will finally allow them to slake the overwhelming desire burning between them?

The timeline of Untouchable spans between the other Wroth brother’s stories, The Warlord Wants Forever #0.5, No Rest for the Wicked #2 and Dark Needs at Night’s Edge #4. We’ve seen the other Wroth brother’s get their HEA with their brides, now it’s Murdoch’s turn.

Throughout the aforementioned books you get glimpses of Murdoch and he’s had a few mysterious things happen. Finally we get to see where he runs off to and who he’s been talking to. It was hinted at that Murdoch knew who his bride was and now we see that was his biggest secret.

Murdoch meant his bride the night that Nikolai finally caught up with Myst and he’s been blooded ever since. Murdoch’s bride (like his brother Nikolai) is a Valkyrie but not just any Valkyrie, Daniela is half Valkyrie and half Icere. Her Icere part needs the cold which is hard to get living in NOLA.

Dani must stay cool or she gets very sick and she has another problem. She can’t be touched. Her skin is cold to everyone and everyone’s skin is too hot for Dani. Really, Kresley Cole comes up with the most entertaining ways to make her immortals virgin. Poor Dani is 2,000 years old and she has not been kissed much less gotten down and dirty with anyone.

Murdoch is known within the Lore (supe world) as the “man whore” of the Wroth brothers from womanizing day when he was a human. But once he was turned into a vampire he has not touched a woman (Vampires have no sexual drive until they are “blooded” by their brides. By “blooded” that means they get an erection, their hearts beat and they breathe once again.)

So we have a couple that is very sexually frustrated. They want more than anything to be able to touch but with Dani’s skin condition it’s not possible. But they find some interesting and steamy ways around it.

The narration of Untouchable by Robert Petkoff is just as engaging as his work on the other books in the IAD series. I’ve really grown to love his voices for the characters in Cole’s world and can’t bring myself to read the books. I must have them on audio. Cole and Petkoff are a winning team in the PNR genre and if you are looking for fun and hot series to sink your teeth into you should give the IAD series a try and I highly recommend it on audio.

My name is Jennifer (not Jen!) and I live in the South. I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two cats. I'm finishing my BA in English this Spring (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not touch anything labeled "classic" but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my courses. While I hated to read growing up I am now avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction with my favorite (at least to date) genres include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly paranormal from authors I read in the adult genre but I'm explaining after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in my college courses).

  1. I have this series on my TBR, but I didn’t realize it was such a good audio series! I love discovering great narrators, running off to add this to my audible wish list. Great review 🙂

I love the narration. I’m not a big fan of male narrators because they don’t do the female characters well but Robert nails them.

  2. I got to get to this one ASP, In fact I might just start it right now! This another author- narrator team I truly love.
    Great review! I can’t wait!
BTW, I don’t remember seeing this on mine Tribber stream, maybe i’ll be getting it later.

  3. I agree. I love this series on audio. It is in my top ten for sure. I just really wish they would hurry up and finish the older books, so I can do the entire series on audio. I’ve been slow at going through them because I have this thing about doing books in order. Even if I’ve already read them.
