The Compact of Sorcerers, a brotherhood sworn to guard the wall between the human world and the demon realm, have relied only on one another for centuries. But now there's a traitor in their midst...

Struggling medical student Clea Masters knows she's unique. Ever since her parents' death, she's been kept safe by an inexplicable force inside her that knocks back any threat. But when a demon attacks her, Clea is launched into a dangerous world she never knew existed. Her only ally is a lethal, seductive man who arouses a hunger stronger than anything she has ever imagined...

Compact of Sorcerers member Ciarran D'Arbois will not let harm befall Clea. In her, he sees a strength he admires and a body he longs to caress. Yet demons are determined to break down the portal Ciarran has sworn to protect, using Clea as their key. Now as a rogue sorcerer leads the enemy ever closer, Ciarran and Clea have only one hope. Both must surrender to their darkest passions--and unleash their most dangerous, untested deisres.

DEMON'S KISS--Which is more deadly, his passion or his power?

This is the second Eve Silver book I’ve read and I’ve got to say, I enjoy her style.

Her idea for this book/series is different, which is something I really like. The market is a flood with paranormal books and Eve Silver has a great take on the paranormal realm.

Rather than vampire, shifters, or weres, the leading man, Ciarran D’Arbois is a High Sorcerer, who guards the wall dividing the human and demon world (Hell). His character is the typical alpha male – sexy, tormented, and tortured by past regrets.

The heroine, Clea Masters, was relatable and strong. She handled being attacked by an ugly demon…maybe a little too well. But I like how she managed to keep it together in though she had a lot of crazy sh*t happen to her. She was a sweet, practical girl who took care of her sick grandmother until the end.

Twenty years earlier, Ciarran made a mistake and rescued a seven-year-old girl, who, in the process, stole some of his power. Now, he has come to check on the girl, who is now a beautiful young woman. He must save her from the demon that killed her parents and almost claimed her life so long ago.

As for why I didn’t give this book an A+, I felt that the relationship was lacking. I wasn’t 100% sure why the characters wanted to be together forever. Yes, they had an undeniable attraction, but that seemed to be it. Yes, sexual compatibility is important, but it’s not everything. Also, there were moments when the book dragged and I found myself skipping paragraphs.

However, this was fun a read and I’m looking forward to reading the next Eve Silver book I had sitting on my shelf.

My name is Jennifer (not Jen!) and I live in the South. I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two cats. I'm finishing my BA in English this Spring (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not touch anything labeled "classic" but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my courses. While I hated to read growing up I am now avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction with my favorite (at least to date) genres include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly paranormal from authors I read in the adult genre but I'm explaining after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in my college courses).
