A short story from Naughty and Nice: A Holiday Romance Collection
House-sitting for her parents seemed like a good idea, until the microwave blew up and the lights went out.
Now Chloe Burke thinks upgrading the electrical system of her childhood home while they are away would make the perfect Christmas gift. Fortunately, there's an electrician in town who can get the job done by the holidays.
Scott Quinn has wanted to get his hands on the Burkes' wiring for almost as long as he's wanted to get his hands on their daughter. Chloe didn't notice Scott back in high school, but she's noticing him now, and soon they're indulging in a little festive fun: no strings, no expectations. After all, Chloe plans to get out of this goldfish bowl of a town and back to her real life in Boston by New Year's.
But Chloe and Scott discover they enjoy each other's company just as much out of bed. Could their holiday fling turn out to be the real thing?
Holiday Sparks is part of the Naughty or Nice anthology and last year Audible had this novella as a free download to audible members so I grabbed it. Free audio, why wouldn’t I? I’m glad I did. Holiday Sparks is a short 2 hour audio that is full of fun, light-hearted, sweet romance listening enjoyment.
I really like contemporary romances that have a couple that’s known each other for a while and even better when they knew each other and then years later meet again. Scott was the thin geeky guy in high school with a crush on the pretty popular girl, Chloe.
Scott’s not a geeky looking teen now. He’s a hot electrician that shows up on Chloe’s parent’s doorstep when she calls for an electrician to fix a blown fuse. Chloe has no idea who Scott is but Scott is all to happy to fix Chloe’s whatever.
Things spark with Chloe and Scott when she hires him to rewire her parent’s home as Christmas gift to them while they are away on a trip. The couple spends three weeks together as Scott does the job. But they have a hard time sticking to the agreement that their time together will only be a fun (and sexy) holiday fling when the three weeks is up.
I really enjoyed the writing and narration of Holiday Sparks. I will definitely be trying out more of Shannon Stacey’s books and narration jobs by Savannah Richards.
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
