The only things Natalie Bouchard wants to change are the weekly specials in her Gram's diner. So when her high school sweetheart strolls back into Dearling, Texas, she allows herself to indulge in a little flirtation, but that's as far as it goes.

Navy SEAL Sawyer Nolan has returned to sell his father's land and get the hell out, no matter how enticing he still finds Natalie. Until a storm rolls over the Texas hills, stranding them together at the farm…and the memories of their steamy past lead to a reunion filled with hot days and long nights.

Soon Natalie's so far under Sawyer's skin he can't imagine being without her. But he has a lot of history in Dearling he'd like to leave behind, and Natalie is practically married to this town. If Sawyer wants to be more than just another person who leaves Natalie, he'll have to give his hometown—and himself—one more chance.

Natalie Bouchard is stuck in time and seems to be waiting for something she’s yet to define. The grandmother who raised her and ran the town’s diner is now permanently residing in assisted care because she’s now suffering from irreversible dementia. By keeping everything status quo, Natalie believes her grandmother might remember her old life if she ever visits the diner. And, deep down, she also believes her high school sweetheart, Navy SEAL Sawyer Nolan, might return and resume their relationship. She was right about Sawyer returning but resuming the relationship is another matter.

This is a lovely story of two very lonely people who reconnect with completely different expectations. Their paths to self discovery intersect with their desire for each other. Natalie is incredibly sensitive and patient with Sawyer, almost to a fault. He’s almost the complete opposite, often cruel in his attempts to protect her from him, but resolute in wanting the best for her. There were times I wanted her to walk away from him because it was too painful but then Sawyer would experience a breakthrough.

I thought this would be a sweet love story and it’s anything but! Natalie and Sawyer’s romance blows the top off the steam meter and some of their issues are heartbreaking. Even though this isn’t presented as a series, I’m hoping there’s at least a follow up to see how they make out and if some of the interesting secondary characters have a shot at a story.

I LOVE reading and am just crazy about so many series and writers. I’m open to exploring new authors and genres and appreciate those who not only write well but can deliciously craft a character and a tale. Your suggestions for new authors and titles are very much welcomed.

I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!
