Few things in life can come between a grim reaper and her coffee, but the sexy, sultry son of Satan is one of them. Now that Reyes Farrow has asked for her hand, Charley Davidson feels it's time to learn more about his past, but Reyes is reluctant to open up. When the official FBI file of his childhood abduction lands in her lap, Charley decides to go behind her mysterious beau’s back and conduct her own investigation. Because what could go wrong?
Unfortunately, another case has fallen into her lap—one with dangerous implications. Some very insistent men want Charley to hunt down a witness who is scheduled to testify against their boss, a major player in the local crime syndicate. If Charley doesn't come up with an address in 48 hours, the people closest to her will start to disappear.
Add to that a desperate man in search of the soul he lost in a card game, a dogged mother determined to find the ghost of her son, and a beautiful, young Deaf boy haunted by his new ability to see the departed as clearly as he sees the living, and Charley has her hands full. The fact that Reyes has caught on to her latest venture only adds fuel to the inferno that he is. Good thing for Charley she's used to multi-tasking and always up for a challenge…especially when that challenge comes in the form of Reyes Farrow.
Wow Charley is really getting on the social media band wagon. There was so many hashtag moments and each was funny. But if I had to pick one of Charley’s hashtags to sum up Sixth Grave on the Edge it would be #HOLYSHIT.
Why a 3.5 rating vs an 4 Rating
I want to know Mr. Wong’s story. He’s been around since First Grave and we still don’t know much about him. Jones gives us a little tease about him in Sixth Grave but I’m ready to know who and/or what he is. I think he’s a spy for someone but I could be wrong. Come on Wong spill already.
Charley needs to grow up. I love her snark and humor but by book 6 she hasn’t grown enough IMO. Charley still hasn’t answered Reyes’ question from the end of Fifth Grave. Come on, it’s a Yes or No question but it takes her the whole book to answer.
Swoon! I think that Reyes is really growing as a character. He’s listening more to Charley instead of being alpha all the time. I like that we are seeing a softer side to him as well. One question I’ve always had. Why is Reyes the one with the hooded cloak when Charley is the Grim Reaper?
Awe They’re so Cute
Cookie and Ubie (Uncle Bob) are just so darn cute. They dance around each other like teenagers. After Cookie and Ubie’s crush started I often wondered how old they were. I had a feeling that Cookie was older than Charley who is 27 and I though it was mentioned once that Ubie was younger than Charley’s dad. But I didn’t know how much of an age difference was between Cookie and Ubie. Then Darynda addressed this issue on her Facebook Page. That Cookie is about 35 and Ubie is late 40s so that’s not too big of an age difference. At least not enough to creep me out.
Will I Continue the Series?
Yes! Jones and King are an unstoppable team! Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones is a must read for fans.
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
