Choices Are Easy When You Have Nothing Left To Lose

Kennedy O’Connell had all the happiness she’d ever dreamed—until someone stole it away. Now on the run for her life, she has a choice to make—disappear forever or make those responsible pay. Her choice is easy.

Two men want to help her, each with their own agenda.

Detective Nick Gallagher is accustomed to pursuing killers within the law. Targeted for death, his life turned inside out, Nick vows to bring down those responsible, no matter the cost. But the beautiful and innocent Kennedy O’Connell brings out every protective instinct. Putting aside his own need for vengeance, he’ll do whatever is necessary to keep her safe and help her achieve her goals.

Billionaire philanthropist Grey Justice has a mission, too. Dubbed the ‘White Knight’ of those in need of a champion, few people are aware of his dark side. Having seen and experienced injustice—Grey knows its bitter taste. Gaining justice for those who have been wronged is a small price to pay for a man’s humanity.

With the help of a surprising accomplice, the three embark on a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The stage is set, the players are ready…the game is on. But someone is playing with another set of rules and survivors are not an option.

Christy Reece is my auto-buy author so know that upfront. I bought this book on release day, confident I’d love it and she didn’t let me down.

Quick summary
Kennedy O’Connell was living the ideal life. Almost overnight everything fell apart, her life irrevocably changed. As if that’s not awful enough, circumstances dictated that she leave everyone and everything she loved behind and disappear in order to stay alive.

Detective Nick Gallagher, under similar threats, vows to devote his life to making those responsible for almost taking his life pay.

Grey Justice is a billionaire philanthropist who has a secret side where he’s made it his life’s mission to be the champion for justice. The real action begins when the lives of these three converge.

The bottom line
I’m jumping directly to the bottom line because to mention any more details would just ruin this story for others.

Kennedy is a wonderfully crafted character who goes through a few transformations in response to the hands life dealt and comes out formidable. She’s not perfect, just incredibly admirable.

The romance is seamlessly interwoven and the action is perfectly paced. The tension is constant, which had me at times both reluctant to put the book down and unable to continue because I’m a wuss.

Lastly, Grey is an enigma and aptly named as he operates in that “gray” area of the law. I’m left wanting more of this unusual man.

This book is a great start to what promises to be a compelling series.

About Christy Reece

Growing up in a tiny Alabama community boasting only one stop sign and a gas station gave Christy ample opportunity to create daring adventures in her head. When she wasn’t thinking of her story characters, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys kept her entertained and out of trouble. Later came the chills of Stephen King and the thrills of John Grisham, but the romance genre always held a strong place in her heart. After years of talking to the characters in her head, she finally decided to write the stories they had been telling her. Now, she and her characters couldn’t be happier.

Christy lives in Alabama with her husband, five incredibly cute but precocious canines, and one very shy turtle.

I LOVE reading and am just crazy about so many series and writers. I’m open to exploring new authors and genres and appreciate those who not only write well but can deliciously craft a character and a tale. Your suggestions for new authors and titles are very much welcomed.

I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!

Christy has written another winner! This series differs from her Last Chance Rescue series, but is equally riveting! The characters are well-developed as are their relationships. Christy also handles a delicate issue with a deft pen.

Grey Justice is an intriguing character. It is likely that we will gradually learn more about Grey and the injustice he has suffered with each new book. The injustice he has experienced personally, and has seen, clearly has been significant. It has motivated him to dedicate his life and his plethora of resources to achieve justice for strangers.

I highly recommend Nothing To Lose to any reader who genuinely enjoys Romantic Suspense, that is, a balance between the two genres.
