Welcome to Vegas. Home of the Sin City Collectors. The job description is easy: Bring the offending supernatural in to the Boss and don’t ask any questions.
Nevada Hamilton has learned a few things since becoming a Sin City Collector, and staying away from vampires is one of them. After botching her first Collection, the vamp getting away after causing as much damage as possible, she hasn’t been assigned to another one since.
But when she receives her next playing card, she’s in for a surprise. Not only is a vampire her next target, but they’ve paired her up to make sure she gets the job done right. Refusing a Collection is not an option, but when she discovers who she’s working with, making the mission as difficult as possible for her new partner becomes her top priority…
Being a hellhound isn’t enough to protect Jake Troubadour from Nevada Hamilton, no matter how thick his skin is. Finding out he has to work with the beautiful dhampir, after not seeing her for three years, is a low blow—but Jake is a professional. He takes his Collections as seriously as he does running his bar. He’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done, but after that, he’s out. No more chances for the girl who wrecked his bike and scarred his soul so long ago. But even with his heart dead set against it, this hellhound quickly finds he’s not immune to love after all.
What’s Collected in Vegas, stays in Vegas...
Amanda Carlson can not only write a great Urban Fantasy novel she proves she can write a Paranormal Romance novel as well. Carlson manages to fit an entertaining story with strong characters into a novella that feels like a full length novel. I was not left wanting for anything with ACES WILD.
I love the idea of the Sin City Collectors series. Each novella will be written by different authors and Amanda Carlson has started the series out with a bang with her super sexy hellhound , Jake and her kick ass dhampir, Neve. I’ve not read much PNR or UF book with hellhounds or dhampir so it was refreshing to read about supes that’s not been over done in the genres.
Neve and Jake are collectors which is are supernatural bounty hunters. Collectors work alone so when the Boss pairs the two together as partners for a collection they are shocked and not happy about it. Neve has done everything in her power to stay away from Jake since the night they shared a few years back. Jake hasn’t been the same since that night.
The couple have a
love lust/hate relationship. But as they work the collection case that lust starts turning into more they neither of them can deny anymore.
ACES WILD read like an urban fantasy with strong romance and sexy elements. So I think both Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy fans will be pleased with Carlson’s world and characters.
I can’t wait to see what happens next in the Sin City Collectors series. Next up is QUEEN OF HEARTS by Kristen Painter.
**Thanks to Jenese over at Readers Confession for gifting the Kindle copy of ACES WILD**
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
