It's been seven years since Lexi Knight lost her brother in a tragic accident. On the anniversary of his death, her brother's best friend shows up unexpectedly--a man she hasn't seen since the funeral. He is no longer the boy Lexi once knew, but a dangerous-looking man with tattoos and dark secrets. He broke her trust and abandoned her family, yet what he reveals makes it impossible to stay angry. Lexi has been secretly infatuated with Austin since childhood, so finding out he's a Shifter just makes him sexier. Dammit.

Austin Cole has returned to the city where he grew up, and just in time. He's lived a hard life these past seven years, and the shadows of his past are threatening to destroy Lexi's family. It's time that she learned the truth about her brother, but there is a shocking twist that Austin never saw coming. Now he must protect her family when her mother and sister wind up in mortal danger. Will Lexi learn to accept the truth about who he is, and can Austin salvage a relationship from the ruins of their past?

SEVEN YEARS is my first Dannika Dark book and my first time listening to narrator, Nicole Poole. Both were happy firsts.

Nicole Poole instantly reminded me of one of my favorite narrators, Xe Sands. Nicole delivered SEVEN YEARS in a very pleasurable way. If I had to pick something about her narration that could have been better, it would be her male voices. I would have liked the male voices to be a bit huskier but other than that Nicole’s performance was really good.

Dannkia Dark wrote some fun, sexy and relatable characters in Austin and Lexi. I’m a sucker for a romance where the couple is brought together for a second chance at love. Lexi is the little sister to Austin’s best friend and seven years after the death of Lexi’s brother and Austin leaving town, he’s back and Lexi is all grown up.

SEVEN YEARS is a great balance between sexy and sweet romance with just the right amount of paranormal to make any paranormal romance reader happy. I can’t wait for the next book, SIX MONTHS to be released on audio.

About Nicole Poole

Nicole Poole is a classically trained actor with equal passions for literature and improvisation. She has toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company, has been a member of the critically acclaimed Walter Thompson Orchestra for over fifteen years, and recently became a member of the Parisian groups SPOUMJ and Anitya. She is honored to have been recognized for her narration by an AudioFile Earphones Award, a Publisher’s Weekly Listen-Up Award, and nomination for an Audie Award.

About Dannika Dark

Dannika traveled abroad in her formative years, learning that life was bigger than her own backyard. With an active imagination, she developed a love for poetry and classic literature. At age 12, influential modern writers such as Stephen King and Anne Rice sparked her interest in writing short stories about magic and the apocalypse, but it wasn’t until decades later that Dannika left her 9-5 corporate job to pursue a career in publishing.

In addition to writing about supernatural worlds, Dannika is passionate about graphic design and creates all her own covers and series art. When not writing, she enjoys indie music, reading, Netflix, strawberry daiquiris, heaps of chocolate, and unleashing her dark side.

All of her published books to date are written in the same universe and contain material suitable for adults only. Dannika’s books have sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide.

I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two chilled cats in the Deep South.

After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.

While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).

  1. Dannika Dark is an author I’ve been hearing about for a while now – I’m glad that you enjoyed this one so much. Nicole Poole is a new narrator for me, but sounds great – I’ll add this to my audio wish list!

  2. We were almost review twins..LOL I drafted and all, but I’m still correcting the grammar…LOL I enjoyed this one too. I was totally shocked when a werewolf jumped into my story, I was expecting a contemporary romance by the cover, I got it the day it came out after publishing all the reviews from Melanie from the same author.
I agree, Nicole Poole sure does great male voices 🙂
