Snagged @ The Library | Getting Ready for Ho-Ho-Ho Read-A-Thon

Posted November 2, 2014 by Jennifer in Snagged @ The Library | | 7 Comments

I’m so excited. I renewed my library card for the main library for the state and they have TONS of PNR/UF ebooks and audiobooks. In the spirit of saving money this year I’ve challenged myself to read books I already own or get them from the library. So I’m following in the foot steps of Felicia over at Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and showing off my library finds.

2014 Ho-Ho-Ho Read-A-Thon is coming up on Thursday, November 6th (you can still sign up HERE) so I checked out and put on hold a few holiday reads that I’m planning on reading for the read-a-thon.

All She Wants For Christmas (Kent Brothers #1)
by Jaci Burton

Big Star, Small-Town Christmas

Country singer Riley Jensen would never have returned to her small Missouri hometown if her publicist hadn’t come up with the scheme to tape a Christmas special there. So she never would have known that the man who broke her heart at eighteen—causing her to flee to Nashville—was now a widower with a seven-year-old daughter. Riley has ten years of angst-filled hit songs and Grammy awards to prove she doesn’t need Ethan Kent. But suddenly, she can’t help thinking of all she gave up by running away…

Ethan Kent knew Riley had the talent and the drive to make it as a singer. He also knew she wasn’t going anywhere if she stayed in their nowhere town for him. Then one night and one huge mistake sent her running on the road to fame. Which doesn’t mean he ever stopped loving her…

But with so much separating them, can Riley and Ethan find their way back together one magical country Christmas?

A Rare Gift (Kent Brothers #2)
by Jaci Burton

With a disastrous marriage behind him, Wyatt Kent has no interest in getting involved with any woman, let alone his ex-wife’s younger sister. But when Calliope Andrews hires him to build an addition onto her day care center, Wyatt can’t help but notice she’s a desirable woman, as warm and funny as his ex was cold and aloof.

Calliope fell hard for Wyatt the first time he walked through the door of her family’s home, and can’t believe her sister let him get away. He’s still the star of all her fantasies, and she’s determined to prove to him she’s nothing like his manipulative ex. Wyatt may be all business, but Calliope sees the way he looks at her when he’s supposed to be working…

It’s not long before Wyatt and Calliope are keeping each other warm on cold December nights. But it’s going to take a Christmas miracle for Wyatt to put his trust in love a second time.

A Very Vampy Christmas (Love at Stake #2.5)
by Kerrelyn Sparks

Maggie O’Brien is thrilled when she lands a starring role on the Digital Vampire Network’s hottest soap opera, As the Vampire Turns. Doesn’t hurt that her leading man is Don Orlando de Corazon, the greatest lover in the vampire world! But who is Don Orlando really? Nobody knows, not even Don Orlando. As the couple sets out in search of his mysterious past, “home for the holidays” takes on a new meaning when the recently-turned vamp discovers his own Christmas miracle.

I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two chilled cats in the Deep South.

After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.

While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).

  1. Looks like you got some great reads. I’m participating too, although I don’t know how much I’ll get to read since I’ll be working. I look forward to hearing about your reads and seeing your updates.

    Happy reading!

  2. I’m so not ready for the Chrismas mood yet! Yesterday was so hot I wore a tee outside. Can’t imagine snow-filled books just yet.

I hope you enjoy all of your reads, and yay for library reading (:

    • After having warm temps here in Arkansas, I turned on the heater this morning. Halloween brought us 40 temps at night and in the early mornings.

  3. I recently downloaded The Coldest Girl in Coldtown on audio…not really because I wanted it but because I was in a hurry and it was one of the few books that I didn’t have to put a hold on…so I wasn’t expecting much. Turns out I really love it and the narrator is fantastic. Hope you enjoy your Christmas books =)

    • They’re short reads so I’m hoping to get both read for the read-a-thon this coming weekend. That is if the person that has them checked out is done with them in time. LOL
