No one is safe.

Secret McQueen thought she’d seen it all, but that was before she, Desmond and Holden came home to find New York City burning and the streets overwhelmed with the walking dead. Now, in a race against time, she must find out who is responsible for unleashing hell on Earth.

For that, she’s going to need a whole new team of vampire wardens to help round up the perpetrators, who turn out to be a gang that makes Sons of Anarchy look like toddlers on tricycles.

Her quest across the city brings old friends and enemies out of the woodwork and reminds Secret once and for all why mercy and forgiveness are not always prudent. Lives will be lost, sacrifices will be made, and when the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same again.

With no time to mourn her losses, the only question remaining is if Secret can survive long enough to stop the apocalypse…or if this is the one challenge that will finally drown her in rivers of undead blood.

Warning: The final book in the Secret McQueen series has it all: hot kisses, unexpected guests, and enough tear-jerking moments to require a whole box of tissues. You’ve been warned.

“If anyone could spit in the face of the apocalypse, Secret, it’s you.”

I’ve never put a book down so many times as I did A SECRET TO DIE FOR. But not because it wasn’t good, because I didn’t want it to end. We are finally here, the end of the Secret McQueen series. And it’s been a ride!

Secret has been stuck in a love triangle for most of the series. Sometimes the guys in the triangle has changed and I’ve waffled in which guy I wanted Secret to end up with. Even though Secret made her choice in the last book, COLD HARD SECRET, there was still some leftover love triangle moments to deal with. And I’m still waffling about if I’m happy with the ending to Secret’s love life.

Let’s talk about the action… It was non-stop and while it was great I rolled my eyes at first when Secret was faced with what looked like a zombie apocalypse. Really?! We’re into the last book of the series and we’re getting a new plot line. But I was WRONG to doubt Sierra Dean. She pulled off the “zombie” story line well and managed to wrap up the series without it feeling rushed.

“Bill. Bill? Were we seriously here to kill a necromancer biker named Bill?”

A SECRET TO DIE FOR is a full of past and present characters and a couple of deaths along the way. (I didn’t spoil you! Look that book summary. You’ve been warned!) I was going to rate A SECRET TO DIE FOR 3.5 stars but one of the deaths earned it an extra .5 star. LOL Cold hearted of me? Maybe. But I wanted the character gone for so long but it was a bitter-sweet exit since “they” were redeemed in the end.

About Sierra Dean

Sierra Dean is a reformed historian. She was born and raised in the Canadian prairies and is allowed annual exit visas in order to continue her quest of steadily conquering the world one city at a time. Making the best of the cold Canadian winters, Sierra indulges in her less global interests: drinking too much tea and writing urban fantasy.
Ever since she was a young girl she has loved the idea of the supernatural coexisting with the mundane. As an adult, however, the idea evolved from the notion of fairies in flower beds, to imagining that the rugged-looking guy at the garage might secretly be a werewolf. She has used her overactive imagination to create her own version of the world, where vampire, werewolves, fairies, gods and monsters all walk among us, and she’ll continue to travel as much as possible until she finds it for real.

She’s also a book lover (of course!), obsessive collector of OPI nailpolish and the owner of way too many pairs of shoes.

I'm finishing my BA in English this Spring (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not touch anything labeled "classic" but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my courses. While I hated to read growing up I am now avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction with my favorite (at least to date) genres include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly paranormal from authors I read in the adult genre but I'm explaining after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in my college courses).

  1. I’ve thought about starting this series. The love triangle has me questioning that. I’m so not a fan of love triangles. The fact that the series is over and I can breeze through it helps. Maybe once I get a few of my current series wrapped up, I can start this one. I don’t judge you for raising the rate for the death of a certain character. 🙂

    • I don’t know what you would call it when the heroine is in love with 3 guys LOL. But it’s not like Anita. She doesn’t sleep with them all at the same time!
