Can’t Get Enough of . . .  is a new monthly feature here at The Book Nympho where we give you lists of books that are similar either by topic, genre, character types, etc. You can find new posts mid-month on Friday.

I read/listened to quit a few contemporary romances in 2014 and some of my favorites were set in small towns. I grew up in a very small town and it’s fun to experience these romances in a setting I’m familiar with.  Small towns have gossip, where everyone knows everybody and their business and that can lead to some fun and frustrating times for our couples. In this month’s post I’m going to list some of my favorite small town romances.

I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two chilled cats in the Deep South.

After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.

While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).

  1. I too come from a small town. I love small town romances because I get that cozy warm small town feeling without actually having to experience the back hand side of the gossip. 😉 Thanks for this list! I haven’t read any of them.

Robyn Carr and Kristan Higgins do great sweet small town romances too.

  2. Lea

Small town romances are my favorite!
I am planning to start the Animal Magnetism series here pretty soon. I have the first three. (I got all of the Lucky Harbor series but haven’t started them yet.)
I LOVE the Kowalski’s too – I hae read several and plan to finish them up here in the next few months.
Others I like are Life in Icicle Falls by Sheila Roberts, Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber (which was just okay), Thunder Point by Robyn Carr and Ocean Breeze by Sherryl Woods.

  3. I enjoy small town romances as well! Karen Rock has written some great small town romances! I own the first Lucky Harbor book by Jill Shavis and have heard of her animal magnetism series as well. Thanks for the recommendations!

  4. Also fan of small town stories. Don’t forget Sherryl Woods Chesapeake Shores series. Reading the latest, Dogwood Hill now. Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series is an all-time fav. Whiskey Creek, Fools Gold, Lucky Harbor all solid series. I’ve read Jill and Shannon’s series above for sure. Jessica’s sounds familiar, but I would have to double check.

  5. Samantha F.

so thrilled to find this blog. Small towns are my new obsession, and Lucky Harbour an addiction, can’t wait to read your take 🙂

    • Hi Samantha! I’m glad you found the blog. I’ll review some of the earlier LH books when I read them. Jonetta has reviewed some of the later books in the series. You can find them on the review archives under Reviews by Series if you want to check her thoughts out on them.

  6. Nikki H

I haven’t read Jessica Clare, but I have her on my TBR, and I’ll be checking her out. The others mentioned are great! I would add Virginia Kantra, Susan Mallery, Emily March, Robyn Carr, Sarah Morgan, Marie Force, and Katie Lane. And Kristen Ashley has a couple of great series set in small towns. I feel like a connoisseur of small town romance. I think that’s pretty much all I’ve read the last couple of years.

  7. I am such a sucker for small town romances. Some of my favorites:
    1. Virgin River by Robyn Carr
    2. Thunder Point by Robyn Carr
    3. Whiskey Creek by Brenda Novak
    4. Lucky Harbor by Jill Shalvis

    And, they all bring heat:)
