Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.
I wish I hadn’t waited so long to start this series. This is one of the best novellas I’ve read as it accomplishes the goal of effectively introducing the characters and provides an exciting story.
Anna Latham is a seemingly submissive wolf who has suffered abuse from her pack in Chicago. After recognizing a werewolf in the news as one from her pack, she bravely contacts The Marrok (werewolf king) who dispatches his son Charles, an Alpha who serves as his enforcer, to investigate what’s going on in the pack.
The story was exciting and Charles is absolutely intriguing as the ultimate über Alpha. Anna emerges as a much more interesting character than she was at the beginning and I’m looking forward to following the development of their relationship.
I’ve read the Mercy Thompson series through River Marked and this fills in some gaps. I liked Holter Graham’s depiction of Charles as well as the rest of his performance. I’m committed to listening to the rest of the series.
I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!
