She’s covered in blood and on the run.

Months before the events of ALL GOOD DEEDS (Book 1 of the Lucy Kendall thriller series), Lucy Kendall is still adjusting to her secret life as a vigilante killer of pedophiles. She’s circling her next target when a desperate teenager begs for help finding a friend lost in the foster care system.

Jaded and still stung from her experiences with Child Protective Services, Lucy searches for the missing girl and discovers the teen’s foster parent lying dead in his kitchen.

Lucy knows the police will arrest first and ask questions later. Determined to save the runaway before she hurts someone else, Lucy sets off on her own investigation.

The stakes are high, and the consequences may be too dire to survive.

The series takes a step back with a look at Lucy Kendall right after she made the decision to leave the Child Protective Services (CPS) agency. She’s contacted by one of her former cases who’s at risk friend is missing under strange circumstances.

I was so certain this story would help me unravel more of Lucy, helping me decide definitively if she’s a true psychopath or just terribly misguided. While I gained a bit more insight, I’m even more conflicted about her!

The case is complex and also takes us inside the CPS, portraying its strengths along with what we know of its weaknesses. I was immediately captivated and couldn’t put it down until I finished the story. The ending was a bit of a surprise, catching me a little off stride. Just the way I love it!

Green is proving she’s a master at the mystery short storytelling with perfect pacing and nimble writing. And, she’s created one of the most fascinating characters in Lucy Kendall.

I LOVE reading and am just crazy about so many series and writers. I’m open to exploring new authors and genres and appreciate those who not only write well but can deliciously craft a character and a tale. Your suggestions for new authors and titles are very much welcomed.

I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!

  1. I love the sound of this series! The whole vigilante-killer-of-pedophile troupe sounds so much like Dexter, love the twistedness of it. I’m gonna have to pick up the first book and see how it goes. Perfect read for Halloween, so thanks for sharing!

I haven’t seen Dexter (though I’ve heard lots about the show) but think it may be similar in tone. This is a GREAT series that is challenging my positions! Hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
