Forced to his knees in agony whenever he speaks the truth, Gideon can recognize any lie-until he captures Scarlet, a demon-possessed immortal who claims to be his long-lost wife. He doesn't remember the beautiful female, much less wedding-or bedding-her. But he wants to...almost as much as he wants her. But Scarlet is keeper of Nightmares, too dangerous to roam free. A future with her might mean ultimate ruin. Especially as Gideon's enemies draw closer-and the truth threatens to destroy all he's come to love...

I had been waiting for Gideon’s story! I was so interested to see how Ms. Showalter would format the dialogue – Gideon is the keeper of lies, therefore he can only speak lies. It must have been tricky to write  and she did it perfectly.

Gideon has the average punk rocker look, complete with tattoos, piercings, blue hair (Love it!) and the attitude. He is drawn to the woman who has recently been imprisoned in his dungeon, but doesn’t know why. He struggles to remember how he knows her, but can sense in his heart that their paths had crossed before.

Scarlett is a very strong female lead, characters like her always make me happy. She has been searching for the man she believes had abandoned her. Scarlett is the keeper of nightmares and she doesn’t have any qualms about using her curse.

The Darkest Lie was loaded with twists and turns. One of which I didn’t seem coming and I’m rarely surprised. The romance was strong, but what kept me from giving The Darkest Lie 5 stars was the sub-plots. As with so many series lately, there is just so much going on in the over all arc that the romance and the main characters sometimes get pushed to the side. I would have liked to have more detail and development between Gideon and Scarlet

Another enjoyable read. The Lords of the Underworld are some of the favorite bad boys.

Amanda J. Greene is a paranormal romance author. When she is not writing, she can be found playing the role of a university student who also works full time at a cosmetology school. She lives in Southern California with her very supportive husband and their two dogs, a sweet cocker spaniel and a rambunctious blackmouth cur mix. Doing all the above and being a military wife is not easy, but rewarding! Of course, she accomplishes everything with a strong cup of coffee in her hand.
