The sole remaining member of the most famous shifter hunter family in history, Owen Nightingale is a mercenary and a man with a secret held in his closely guarded heart, but when a beautiful rare shifter catches his eye and offers him a job, he has the feeling he’ll be the one paying for helping her—with his heart.
Cait is in a spot of trouble with a capital T. A male hellcat has set his sights on claiming her and she’s one kitty who doesn’t want a collar. When she meets a dark, alluring and mysterious hunter, she sees a chance to rid herself of the male, but the price Owen sets and the fierce passion that burns white-hot between them lures her dangerously under his seductive spell.
Can Owen discover the true intent of the male hellcat and stop Cait from falling into his hands? And can Cait retain control as the heat of desire burns between her and Owen, or will a reckless moment seal both of their fates forever?
I’ve been a fan of Felicity Heaton for a few years now, so I know she can pack a punch with a novella sized story. But I would have liked Bitten by a Hellcat to be a little longer so that Cait and Owen’s relationship to develop at a slower pace. It was a little to insta-love for me, the plot wrapped up too fast and neatly but there was enough heat between the pages to keep me warm while I read it in one sitting.
A notable change that Bitten by a Hellcat brings to the Eternal Mates series is that the hero is the mortal and the heroine is the supe. Owen is a supe hunter and Cait is a hellcat in need of help from Owen.
I’ve only read one other story with a hellcat and it was nothing like Heaton’s version of a hellcat. Picture a black jaguar with two tails and blue flames. So while the romance and plot were a little too fast and lacking depth like earlier books in the series I can get on board with new and exotic supernaturals. It gets a little boring reading about the vampires and werewolves all the time.
Not only was Heaton’s hellcat enjoyable but getting a look into her version of a dragon was a well. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Eternal Mates series, Taken by a Dragon. I’ve been waiting for that story after a dragon grabs up a woman in the middle of the battle between the Third and Fifth realm of the demons in book 2.
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
