For two people ambivalent about dating and love, they sure get naked around each other an awful lot . . .
London Hughes is very content to surf daily, tend bar, hang out with her group of friends, and slowly orient herself in the years after college. Everything’s going great and according to the non-plan.
But when a wave knocks her for a loop one morning, then Luke Sutter’s flirtatious smile knocks her for another that evening, she veers slightly off course…and into his path. Sure, he’s a total player, but the Why not—it’s only one night is a persistent voice in her ear.
For his part, Luke’s been on hookup autopilot for so long that he rarely ever pauses to consider what he’s doing. But after an amazing time with London, he realizes that he hasn’t been moving on from a devastating heartbreak so much as he’s been drifting to wherever—and whomever—the current takes him. With London he wants more.
Every relationship involves two people…plus their pasts. And as much as she enjoys her fling with Luke, when London learns about his past—more specifically, who’s in it—everything becomes the brand of complicated she strives to avoid. It’s up to Luke then to change some things in order to try and ensure he’s not something she’ll outright avoid as well.
I’m a die hard fan of the writing team of Christian Lauren. I’ve loved every book I’ve read/listen to, by the author duo and *Wicked Sexy Liar is no different. For a long time, the summary of Wicked Sexy Liar wasn’t up on Goodreads so I wasn’t sure who the book was going to be about, I just knew I wanted to read it. I thought by the title that it might be about Not-Joe, the mystery surfer/stoner that works for Oliver in Dark Wild Night. Because I know there is more to Not-Joe so I thought “Liar” in the title was about him and how he lies about who he really is under his goofball exterior. So I was surprised that
So I was surprised that Wicked Sexy Liar is actually about Luke, Mia’s (from book 1 Sweet Filthy Boy) ex from four years ago, and London, Lola’s (from Dark Wild Night) roommate. Luke and London both have issues from their ex’s and have a hard time overcoming them. Their romance and friendship were fun to watch grow. It all starts from a one-night stand when they met at Fred’s, the bar that the whole gang from the series hangs at and where London is the bartender.
Luke was Mia’s high school sweetheart and he was best friends with Harlow (Dirty Rowdy Thing) and Lola. The four grew up together and were very close until Mia’s accident. It tore Luke and Mia apart but he not only lost her but he lost his friends as well. How did he deal? He turned into a “manwhore”. He guarded his heart with casual hook ups, never letting himself love anyone. Then enters Logan aka London.
London was once in love too but her long time boyfriend cheated on her for years without her knowing. Once she found out that was the end and she’s not dated since then. She’s put up her own walls to protect her heart. But Luke comes into Fred’s and flirts with her and she decides that her box of toys under the bed wasn’t enough anymore and does something she never does. She went home with a customer for a one-night stand.
Luke and London keep it casual but after a while, Luke wants more and London can’t give it to him. But after they turn their relationship into a friendship, Luke slowly breaks down London’s walls.
I love Wicked Sexy Liar for more than just it’s HEA for Luke and London. I love the fact that Luke not only gets the girl but he gets his friends back, that he has missed for so long. I highly recommend Wicked Sexy Liar to romance readers that enjoy laugh out loud humor with their sexy times, while Wicked Sexy Liar could be read as a stand alone I recommend you read the whole Wild Seasons series by Christina Lauren.
I can’t wait for the next book. I’m hoping it’s Not-Joe’s book since we get to see him in this one and we learn his real first name.
*I’m a little confused by the title, neither Luke nor London was a Liar. Usually, the title plays into the story at some point.
You can name at least three online adult toy stores . . . At least two of these stores auto-fill after only a single letter is typed into the URL bar, and you are always the roommate expected to replace the batteries on the remote control, hand vacuum, and flashlights.
Which is ridiculous when you think about it because everyone knows that the best sex toys are corded or rechargeable. Amateurs.
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
