Tony Lopez is losing it. Burdened by a broken marriage and a failing business, the divorced father of two young daughters isn’t on his A game when he meets Beth. She’s clearly pregnant and defiantly single: a beautiful, graceful vision that lights a fire somewhere deep beneath Tony’s layers of self-doubt. They connect at his brother’s upstate New York home during a weekend among friends. Except friends don’t feel this kind of chemistry—or want each other so bad it hurts.

Beth Cody has no use for ties that bind. She’s witnessed that kind of wrecking ball. The father of her child isn’t in the picture, and she couldn’t be happier. So when Tony sends her already raging hormones off the chart with his rugged good looks and pent-up sexuality, Beth is thrilled to indulge in a short-term affair, with no strings attached. But one taste isn’t enough. And now that she’s out of her comfort zone, Beth either needs to let go or take a chance on a man who might just be worthy of her love.

Tony Lopez is recovering from the ending of his marriage, struggling to save his business and working diligently to co-parent his two young daughters. When he meets Beth Cody, the single and pregnant best friend of Holly Ward, he’s struck by an indescribable connection that has him tongue tied. Months later when they meet yet again at the home his brother shares with Holly, Beth takes the initiative.

There’s a lot to admire about these two. Tony is such a good guy, trying to do right by everyone in his orbit, including his ex-wife. Beth is more of a free spirit who is fiercely independent and committed to not being in a committed relationship. They’re good together but she just doesn’t believe in happily ever after. Their story of how they master all that separates them is inspiring and realistic.

I actually liked this story more than the first, primarily because Tony and Beth are such authentic characters, grounded in their histories. The ending even stayed true to who I believed them to be. It’s a sensual story, especially considering it’s a romance involving a 7-month pregnant woman and a single father of two little girls. Very nicely done.

I LOVE reading and am just crazy about so many series and writers. I’m open to exploring new authors and genres and appreciate those who not only write well but can deliciously craft a character and a tale. Your suggestions for new authors and titles are very much welcomed.

I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!
