Being Chosen was supposed to be a gift.
That’s what Tallulah Corentine’s parents told her when they handed her over to the Rain Chasers on her seventh birthday. It was an honor to be born with a destiny, to be hand selected by the gods before taking her first breath. She should be overjoyed.
Twenty years later, Tallulah is still waiting for the gift. She might have the power of the storm at her fingertips, but she’s spent her whole adult life living under a cloud.
A cross-country trip to find the wayward son of Seth, god of the storm, turns into a fight for her life when she dupes Death out of a valuable treasure. With only a wily con man, a dangerously handsome bad-luck priest, and a lot of lightning to help her, can she deliver the package and keep herself out of an early grave?
Or will Seth be looking for a new Rain Chaser before it’s all over?

Thunder Road is the first book in Sierra Dean’s Rain Chaser series it all the right spots for this Urban fantasy fan. Featuring a kick-ass heroine (does Dean know how to write any other kind of heroine? NO), Tallulah who is a rain chaser. (WTF is a rain chaser?) Ok so, the series revolves around Greek Mythology and rain chasers worship the god Seth or you might know him by some of his other names; Tlaloc or Thor (yes, Thor). Seth is the god that controls rain, lightning, and thunder. Tallulah was born with the mark of Seth on her neck, a cloud, so she was raised and trained in one of his temples to be one of his servants.
“I am Tallulah Corentine. I am the North American Rain Chaser, disciple of Seth. I control, storms, and so help me gods if you ever threaten me again, I will shove a lightning bolt so far up your ass you’ll be sneezing pure energy for a month. Am. I. Clear?”
Tallulah is tasked with saving one of Seth’s children. She is joined by Cade, the unlucky one on an action-packed road trip to NOLA to find the demigod son that has no idea he is a demigod. Why is Cade called the unlucky one? He works for a different god or rather the goddess of bad luck and misfortune, Ardra. If someone prayed to Ardra that their cheating husband has a misfortune accident then Cade was the guy that made it happen for Ardra. Then there were times that bad luck just seemed to follow Cade around. Not the first choice of a driving buddy when you’re on a mission to save someone and the goddess of Death wants you dead.
There’s some chemistry between Tallulah and Cade but they are supposed to be chased because they work for gods and goddesses. Don’t worry Tallulah is not a twenty-something virgin, but she knows when it’s time to fight and when to get down and dirty and a cross-country road trip where everyone is trying to kill you is not one of those times to get naked in the back seat of a classic car.
Supernatural Fans Rejoice
I’m pretty sure that Sierra Dean is a Supernatural fan or maybe my obsession with the TV show caused me to see a lot of similarities to the show when it came to Cade.
Cade drives black 1970 Dodge Charger and loves classic rock . . . Dean drives black 1967 Chevy Impala and loves classic rock.
Then there’s the fact that Tallulah and Cade crash at cheap motels and a few have diners adjacent to them with wifi that has MMMPIE as the password. LOL Dean Winchester is all about some pie.
Downside Ghost Fans Rejoice
While I saw some similarities to Dean from Supernatural in Cade, I also so some physical traits from Terrible in Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghost series.
Cade doesn’t have the pomade hairstyle that Terrible wears but he is big, serious looking, and covered in tattoos. In my mind, Cade looks like Terrible but dresses like Dean Winchester.
Fans of snarky heroines and Greek Mythology will delight in Sierra Dean’s Thunder Road. I can’t wait to see what kind of hijinks Tallulah get herself into next.
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
