The New York Times bestselling Elemental Assassin series continues with a new e-novella--from the point of view of Finnegan Lane, the foster brother of Gin Blanco, and a fan favorite of readers of the series.
The fallout from his disastrous “family reunion” in Bitter Bite has left Finn feeling hurt, angry, and depressed. He can barely stand to look at himself in the mirror, much less eat any of the delicious barbecue from Gin’s famed Pork Pit restaurant.
But when the funeral for a slain security guard at his bank turns into a showdown with some nasty underworld giants, Finn knows that he must act in order to protect an innocent family.
Finnegan Lane might be the most unwanted man in Ashland these days, but he’s determined to try to make amends for his past mistakes...
If you’ve not read Bitter Bite there will be a mild spoiler.
Finn is alone for the most of Unwanted but it’s not because his friends aren’t around to help. He believes he deserves to be alone after mommy dearest almost killed him and a few of Gin’s group. Unwanted is how Finn feels after the bank robbery that killed many of his co-workers. They blame Finn for the deaths and so does he. Finn is no longer Mr. Popular at work and he would be ok with that if it wasn’t for the horrible fact that the robbery wouldn’t have taken place if it wasn’t for his long-lost mother.
It was tough seeing the loveable, sass talking Finn so down. I wanted to hug him then I remembered he was a fictional character. But like Gin, Finn had a strong upbringing by Fletcher and I believe that’s what helps these two characters pull through in the end. That and the love of their friends that are more like family. Finn handled his inner turmoil with grace and deathly effectiveness all while in a killer three-piece suit. Well, expect for when he changed clothes to get down and dirty, after all, Finn wouldn’t ruin a Fiona Fine creation.
Unwanted is a short look into Finn’s mind and it was an enlightening journey for him and fans of the character. My favorite scene was when Finn visited Fletcher’s grave and pocketed the BBQ sauce that Gin left for the old man.

After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
