As the daughter of a music legend, Grace Davingham knows all too well what it’s like to be burned by the media’s glare. Now all she wants is to be left to do her painting and conservation work in peace, with no intention of returning to the spotlight. But after she sprains her ankle hiking and a handsome real-estate mogul comes to her rescue, Grace once again finds herself in the public eye.
Sexy, successful, and averse to any attachments, Marcus Colby thrives on rigid discipline in order to manage both his real-estate investment company and his personal life. Marc has no time for fun, and no patience for crazy. Which is why meeting Grace—and inheriting an enormous Great Dane who won’t listen to a word he says—has turned Marc’s carefully constructed world upside down.
Only when Grace and Marc square off over a local controversy do they realize how different they really are. But if opposites attract, their love is destined to bind them together—forever.
Grace Davingham is the daughter of a rock star and a supermodel who have a reality TV show. Two years ago she escaped the madness and landed in Eastbridge, living a life of solitude as a nature artist. She’s loved living her life on her own terms, even if it’s a bit lonely. Marc Colby couldn’t be more opposite. He’s a real estate investor from a wealthy, rather tight-lipped family. The odds of these two sustaining a relationship are pretty low but they bring out the best in each other.
Grace is so very aptly named as she’s very centered and clear about who she is and what she wants from life. She’s an absolutely lovely character who sees beyond Marc’s austere veneer, breathing much needed life into his workaholic routine. Add a wild Great Dane called Big Blue to the mix and you have quite the cocktail.
I really enjoyed this story. Both were passionate in their own way and Big Blue added adventure. The downside of fame and publicity surrounding reality TV was realistically portrayed and anyone craving this lifestyle would be given pause. This was an interesting series with diverse issues and characters that I found admirable and appealing. I’m sad to see it come to an end.
I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!
