As a firefighter, Captain Ken Cavanaugh knows his way around dangerous situations—but he'd rather run into a burning building than help plan his 25th high school reunion in Barefoot Bay. Unfortunately, it's his best chance of finally putting things right with Beth Endicott two and a half decades after they ended so badly. But the instant they see each other again, the years blow away like ashes in the heat of their combustible chemistry. For one single night, they let their incendiary passion consume them...but in the morning, they're still left with the smoldering wreckage of a relationship that ended in tragedy.

Raised under the thumb of a rich and controlling man, Beth has spent her adult years craving freedom. Now that she's finally managed to carve out an independent life, is she ready to risk her heart on the first man she ever loved—a man who blames her family for his father's death? With so much painful history between them, Beth can't see a way to have a future with Ken. But one stunning surprise will turn everything they ever believed upside down and send them straight into each other's arms.

Ken is willing to put everything on the line for the family he’s always wanted, but Beth knows the past that ruined them could flare into heartache again. It will take all her newfound courage to prove she would walk through fire for this second chance with the love of her life.

Firefighter Ken Cavanaugh’s sole reason for agreeing to be on the class reunion planning committee was Beth Endicott, who owns her own business flipping houses and is the daughter of a wealthy real estate developer. See, 25-years ago he cruelly walked away from her and their wonderful relationship. Now he wants the chance to apologize and maybe have another chance at romance. Beth learns he’s all about want of a family and doesn’t think she’s the one to fit those goals. After avoiding him for a week, things culminate on the last night of the reunion in a lovely beach cabana on Barefoot Bay.

It’s hard not to adore Ken as he’s honest, straightforward and wears his heart (Beth) on his sleeve. Beth’s a lot tougher to warm up to as she’s built a wall of control around herself and can be a little touchy. But there’s lots to admire about both of them so it makes it easier to stay with the romance and their developing relationship. Ken never gives up and Beth always offers him a lifeline.

This series is so refreshing. Even when there are tough issues facing these characters, they always showed their maturity by facing them head on and honestly. I loved their complicated story and the strong themes of family. That’s 2 for 2 so far with Timeless!

I LOVE reading and am just crazy about so many series and writers. I’m open to exploring new authors and genres and appreciate those who not only write well but can deliciously craft a character and a tale. Your suggestions for new authors and titles are very much welcomed.

I also love to talk about books. There’s nothing more exciting than to finish a great story and cover it A to Z with other people, exploring different perspectives and points of view. So, if you see something on my shelf you’d like to talk about, send me a message and we’ll talk!
