When her beloved father was assassinated, Lady Aramina swore revenge. The man responsible is well beyond her grasp, but his dangerously seductive heir, Leo Barrons, is fair game. When Mina obtains evidence proving that Leo is illegitimate, she has the means to destroy both the killer and his son, a man who troubles her heart and tempts her body.

A woman of mystery, Mina has long driven Leo crazy with glimpses of a fiery passion that lurks beneath her icy veneer. He knows that she's hiding something, and he's determined to unravel her layer by silken layer. He just doesn't expect the beautiful liar to be the key to overthrowing the corrupt prince consort or to saving his own carefully walled-off heart.

Of Silk and Steam brings the events that has been building since book 1, Kiss of Steel are finally brought to a close.

Bec McMaster writes great characters and her couples are always fun to see go through their issues to get to their HEA. This time she brings us a couple that are frenemies of a sort. Mina does not like Leo Barrons because his father killed her father. Yeah, that’s going to be a big issue to get over in order for them to get friendly with each other. Leo has wanted Mina for his own for a few years and has been patient in his “chase” of her. Of course it pays off and seeing Leo melt Mina’s chilly exterior was both fun and hot.

Since Of Silk and Steam is the last book in the London Steampunk series, readers get to see old favorites from earlier books. They are work together to when the war that has been brewing through the whole series.

I love how McMaster took paranormals like vampires and werewolves and put her own spin on them for this highly entertaining series. I look for to reading the first book in spin-off series, Mission: Improper (London Steampunk: The Blue Blood Conspiracy #1). It is set three years after Of Silk and Steam and I’m curious to see if two younger characters in this series get a HEA in the Blue Blood Conspiracy series.

Fans of paranormal romance, historical romance and steam punk will delight in McMaster’s writing. If you haven’t checked this series out yet you really should and there’s no waiting for new releases since the series is complete and this is a series worthy of a binge read.

If you are into audiobooks, a binge listen is even better. Alison Larkin does a masterful job at the narration for the whole series. She is very adept at the male voices while still making the female voices feminine.

About Bec McMaster

My name is Bec McMaster and I live in a small country town in Victoria, Australia, with my boyfriend, and a beautiful dog named Kobe. I grew up either with my nose in a book or writing, and never understood why other people didn’t get to watch ‘all the movies in their heads’. Following a lifelong love affair with fantasy, I discovered romance at the age of sixteen, and haven’t looked back.

When I’m not writing I like to read, go hiking with my boyfriend, pore over travel brochures, and go to the gym. I’m addicted to travel, and love to set my books in foreign places. It’s the next best thing to travelling there. One day I vow to see the entire world, whether it’s by plane, paper, or imagination.

I coexist with my husband of 15 years, our 11-year-old son and two chilled cats in the Deep South.

After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.

While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
