Nothing is more dangerous than falling in love....
When Caleb Devereaux's younger sister is kidnapped, the scion of a powerful and wealthy family turns to an unlikely source for help: a beautiful and sensitive woman with a gift for finding answers others cannot. While Ramie can connect to victims and locate them by feeling their pain, her ability comes with a price. Every time she uses it, it costs her a piece of herself. Helping the infuriatingly attractive and impatient Caleb successfully find his sister nearly destroys her. Even though his sexual intensity draws her like a magnet, she needs to get as far away from him as she can.
Deeply remorseful for the pain he's caused, Caleb is determined to make things right. But just when he thinks Ramie's vanished forever, she reappears. She's in trouble and she needs his help. Now Caleb will risk everything to protect her — including his heart....
read it, track reviews are a way to track books for my reading challenges and they will be super short.
If have issues with rape then you should be warned. While the rape doesn’t go into great detail it happens to two women. One in the physical aspect and the other through their empathy talent.
I received a copy of the upcoming release in the Slow Burn series, Just One Touch so I decided to search my library for the previous books in the series. I found them all on audio so I’m doing a binge listen before I read Just One Touch.
Keep Me Safe is my first Maya Banks book and my first time listening to Jeffrey Kafer. Both firsts was enjoyable experiences. I really enjoyed the plot idea for Keep Me Safe that included a serial killer and empaths. There’s just a touch of supernatural element with the empaths.
I wasn’t blown away by Caleb and Ramie as a couple or a the main characters, but I like the world building this first novel in the Slow Burn series sets up. I will continue with the series and feel like I’ll enjoy more from other characters in the Devereaux family and their employees in their security firm.
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
