From subway to Broadway to happily ever after. Modern love in all its thrill, hilarity, and uncertainty has never been so compulsively enjoyable as in New York Times and number one international best-selling author Christina Lauren's (Beautiful Bastard, Dating You/Hating You) new romance.
Marriages of convenience are so...inconvenient.
Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a big-time musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway - until he admits his student visa has expired and he's in the country illegally.
Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realize that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?
Roomies is a romance about a twenty-five year old woman who’s in a bit of a holding patterning when it comes to her person and work life. The only thing Holland does for herself is “stalk” a subway busker who plays his guitar in the subway she doesn’t need to use. She saw him by chance 6 months ago and now takes detours between her apartment and work just to hear him play.
One thing leads to another and Holland has some liquid courage one night and actually speaks to the guitarist she has named Jack in her head. She finds out that he is Irish and his name is Calvin. After things fall apart for her uncle when the lead violinist quits and he is in need of a new musician, Holland takes uncle Robert to the subway to hear Calvin. But Calvin can’t work for uncle Robert because his student visa experienced four years ago. Holland gets the crazy idea to marry him so he can stay in the country and work on the play for her uncle.
Roomies starts with a girl who has a crush on a stranger and ends with a HEA for an unlikely couple brought together in an unexpected way. Looking for a fun, sweet, heartbreaking and sexy romance about a shame of a marriage turned true love pick up a copy of Christina Lauren’s Roomies. I highly recommend it on audio!
After 17 years I've finally finished my BA in English (no I do not want to be a teacher). Before majoring in English I would not have touched anything labeled "classic", but I have enjoyed a few along the way in my college career.
While I hated to read growing up, I am now an avid book reader and audiobook listener. I love rejecting reality one book at a time. I only read fiction within my favorite (at least to date) genres which include: most romance (paranormal, contemporary, D/s, BDSM, M/M)Urban Fantasy, and a few YA (mostly PNR or UF from favorite adult authors, but I'm slowly stepping out of my comfort zone after enjoying a few contemporary YA novels in adolescent literature class I took).
