Blog Tour: Flame in the Dark by Faith Hunter

Blog Tour: Flame in the Dark by Faith Hunter

Wow!  Flame in the Dark was interesting on so many levels. There was some world-building in the types of supernaturals and also the traits of ones we already know.  The PsyLED team has a big, intensive new case. The team members of Unit 18 have various professional and personal developments. Best of all, Nell grows. Nell is so strong and smart. She is NOT lazy. Nell chooses to do the right thing, in spite of the physical or emotional dangers. She has integrity and thinks of others. Nell has growth in so many aspects of her life and is learning about herself. It is incredible to be there with her. I couldn’t put this down! The Soulwood series, being urban fantasy, really must be […]

The Bachelor Contract by Rachel Van Dyken

The Bachelor Contract by Rachel Van Dyken

The Bachelors of Arizona series is a guilty pleasure I can’t regret reading. It’s ridiculous but so sort of campy and funny.  The characters are impossible and larger than life.  Even the side characters have personality and are developed well enough to know them. The relationship between the brothers is hilarious, but even more Grandpa and now “Grandma Nadine.” This was fun and sexy. Even though there is always some character angst over some issue, they eventually grow into dealing with their past. There is a lot of grief in the history of this couple; they were married very young. Nikki has managed well considering everything. Brant is a hot mess, using alcohol to block out all feelings. I […]

Review tour: Midnight Labyrinth by Elizabeth Hunter

Review tour: Midnight Labyrinth by Elizabeth Hunter

The previous offerings in the Elemental Legacy series were novellas. I liked them but I didn’t feel quite as though I knew the characters.  The world was familiar, and even the characters through the related Elemental Mystery and Elemental World series. Tenzin was quite well developed and some of her history has been told. Ben has been more elusive. Finally, in Midnight Labyrinth, we get a full length book with more insight into Ben! I love how we see his growth as he starts to choose his path in the world. His compassion and protection of others is clear.  Tenzin is bizarre and wonderful as always. Oddly, for the first time I could see how the Tenzin and Ben relationship might develop further than the trusted […]

The Raven Riders series is one of the only motorcycle rider series I really enjoy. There is the violence and sex and living on the edge of the law which is common in this world. The brutality is not so detailed on page, plus these guys are more protectors to those in trouble rather than perpetrating the abuse or crimes themselves. Slider has two young sons and has lost his wife to breast cancer. His last few years have not been good; he’s just hanging in there for his boys. He needs some help due to his work hours. Cora was saved from a horrible situation in an earlier book, so she is staying with the Raven Riders while she gets her life back […]

In Too Deep by Kimberly Kincaid

In Too Deep by Kimberly Kincaid

I enjoy Kimberly Kincaid’s books and series I have read. The Station Seventeen series is about a fire station and paramedic teams. This is a natural environment for adventures, as well as investigations occurring due to arson. The world provides a great setting with many fit young men and women, and with a real life feel of ordinary people trying to help others and save lives. No wonder it’s a hot bed of romance! There’s also the camaraderie of the team. The series is usually more contemporary romance but In Too Deep tips into romantic suspense.  Luke is trying to become as skilled as he can learning to be a paramedic as well as a firefighter. He’s the strong and silent guy who isn’t […]

Carmen and Thomas’s story started in the previous book, Rule Master. We got a sneak peek into their relationship where Carmen was hiding something big from Thomas. Two somethings actually, as in his twin sons. Rule Changer takes us a little over a year from the end of Rule Master. The cat is out of the bag and Thomas has come to collect is family. Carmen and Thomas are both Dominates so their romantic relationship is not the norm in their world. With that issue to work out they are also dealing with the reasons Thomas broke things off with Carmen. They shared family business past that lead to his aunt killing her father. Carmen gave her trust to Thomas one night months ago and he took […]

Then Came You by Jeannie Moon: Blog Tour & #Giveaway

Both Mia DeAngelis and Adam Miller have recently returned to Compass Cove on Long Island. Her grandparents lived there and she spent most summers with them growing up. Now that she’s the sole guardian for her 13-year old nephew Ben, Mia wants the quality of life she experienced in this small town and accepts a position as a librarian for the local college. Adam was an NFL star quarterback until a car accident ended his career and had him reexamine his shallow-minded lifestyle. He’s the coach for the college football team and is learning how to live a better life and have more meaningful relationships.   I found the premise for this story intriguing, drawn by the stereotypical contrasts between Mia and Adam […]
