Gwen Bailey is feeling pretty good about herself for a change now that her family has emerged from the grief and despair brought about by the death of her brother and nephew five years ago. Her parents leaned heavily on her for support and now that her other brother has returned to town, it’s her turn to focus on her own happiness. And at the center of that focus is The Muffin Man, or TMM as he’s “confectionately” known as he comes into her chocolate shop every morning for his coffee and muffin. What she doesn’t know is he’s Dr. Luke Thomson and he’s keeping a secret that could potentially devastate her.   What’s not to like about Gwen? She’s a great friend, […]

Lethal Lies by Rebecca Zanetti

Anne’s Audio Review I was so excited to get this audio, since I had also listened to Deadly Silence.  In between these two audios in the Blood Brothers series , I listened to the entire  Sin Brothers series which is related.  The Sin Brothers came first if you are OCD like me. Karen White narrated both series so I enjoyed the consistency. While the women have different personalities, most of them sounded the same to me. The men had a little more variation. These are professional,  comfortably paced audio books. The overall story arc continues and I’m happy we learn more in each installment. The Blood brothers were rather isolated in childhood, so they are learning more about themselves and their history all the time. This book also has […]

Bombshell by CD Reiss

Bombshell by CD Reiss

Grab the Kindle book for $3.99 and add the audio for only $1.99! I’m a big fan of C.D. Reiss. She writes great erotica romances. Bombshell is not erotica and that’s ok. I was detailed to see that I enjoyed it just as much as Reiss’s steamier titles. Not to say Bombshell doesn’t get steamy, it’s just a different kind of sexy. Bombshell is a romance between nanny and sexy Hollywood actor from Arkansas. Freaking Arkansas! (My home state) But this isn’t the that kind of story. Brad gets a big bombshell in the form of a 5-year-old daughter he didn’t know anything about, Nicole. Brad is the typical party guy in Hollywood so when he becomes a dad overnight he needs help. That’s where Cara, the […]

Joy Ride by Lauren Blakely

Joy Ride by Lauren Blakely

I love jumping into a Lauren Blakely novel! I know any time I pick up a romance by Lauren Blakely that I’m going to laugh, swoon and possibly cry (mostly from the laughter but there’s some touching moments too). Joy Ride delivers like all the other novels by Blakely I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing so far. I must confuse I usually listen since  Sebastian York is her usual narrator but I couldn’t wait to dive into Henley and Max’s story. But you know what, I totally heard York’s voice in my head as I read Joy Ride and I will at some point purchase the audio format and listen to it. Her books are excellent and I know that will I find myself in a […]

Blog tour: Cold Reign by Faith Hunter

I’ll start by admitting I LOVE, LOVE the Jane Yellowrock series and the author, Faith Hunter.  I didn’t read until there were maybe 8 books. I think it actually helps when you can read them all in a short time together to keep the information and details fresh. I was careful to read everything, including the novellas, in order. It’s important to me in general, but especially with urban fantasy. Let’s get right to it. Ricky Bo is here, more than I expected. And I didn’t hate him. I didn’t like him either. I also didn’t crush on Leo. At all. I was furious with Leo. He always has his secrets from Jane and it sucks. He also tries to manipulate […]

Blade Bound by Chloe Neill

Blade Bound by Chloe Neill

My friends told me to read this series and I finally came to the party a couple of years ago, listening to audio books while driving back and forth between Minnesota and North Carolina. I fell in love with Merit and Ethan. Strong women with hot guys trying to make the world a better place with their own sassy quirks are always welcome. Reading Blade Bound,  the final book in this series, I felt mostly sad. I couldn’t get past those feelings. The story felt nostalgic and almost too much like every other book in the Chicagoland Vampire series. Anything new happening, growth or learning by the characters,  had been foreshadowed in other books and expected. So there weren’t really any surprises. The BIG things […]

I read the first book in the Opposites Attract series ,  Completely Yours which was 4.5 stars of smart, sexy fun. Of course, I wanted to read more. I was not disappointed. Maya is so strong, open and with a huge heart. She willingly risks everything to help others, do what is right or get what she wants. She is so brave. Alex is extremely smart and capable, but he has always played it safe. He has a lot happening in his life, can he risk himself enough to change and grow? I enjoyed these characters and they made me feel, care and cheer for them. They are more than average folks, which hits my reality meter. Some things work out for them a […]

Praise for The Last Chance Matinee: “The combination of a quirky small-town setting, a family mystery, a gentle romance, and three estranged sisters is catnip for women’s-fiction fans, and the backdrop of the faded movie palace adds a fascinating element to the story. Stewart’s lively, warmhearted series starter [The Last Chance Matinee] will have readers eagerly awaiting the second installment.” —Booklist “A good read, with a nice blend of mystery, family drama, and romance. Readers will look forward to the next installment.” —Library Journal   Inspiration for The Last Chance Matinee: Everyone is familiar with the adage “write what you know”; it’s a saying that has dictated much of my decades-long career in publishing. But this time, it was what I (or rather, my mother) didn’t […]
