A hot hook-up in a cold beer cooler changes everything…

When wealthy brewery owner Austin Fitzgerald meets sexy saleswoman Evelyn Benedict, angry sparks fly. They seem destined to clash, until a hot hook-up in a cold beer cooler changes everything.

For Austin, it's a life-altering moment that sets him on a path away from his birthright, while Evelyn must face her fears about committing to a man considered the playboy of the micro-brewing world.

The power of preconceived notions nearly tears them apart—until they meet up with brew master Ross, who opens their eyes to a deeper, even more erotic connection.

But three strong personalities don’t always make for the best emotional mix and when a simple misunderstanding causes chaos, it’s up to Ross to repair the tattered shreds of their relationship.

When beer and wine saleswoman Evelyn Benedict reluctantly agreed to allow brewery owner Austin Fitzgerald to do a ride-along with her to visit her territory, she had no idea how her life would be permanently altered. She’s from blue collar roots and he’s a trust fund baby but they fit almost perfectly. It’s the “almost” though that might just do them in. Especially when his best friend, Ross Hoffman enters the relationship.

Despite Evelyn’s childish reactions throughout the story, I really liked her. Those reactions were her coping mechanisms (scream and run), developed as a result of a tough childhood. She’s strong, smart and resourceful. I liked how she lived life in the moment, full out. Austin was equally intriguing, motivated to be self sufficient and pursuing his own dreams despite the opposition of his family who didn’t want him running a brewery or to be with Evelyn. They loved hard but I must admit Evelyn’s behavior sometimes wore me down.

I really liked the dynamics of the relationships between Ross and Austin and the three of them. It takes a particularly confident man to open his relationship to another man the way Austin did. There’s quite a lot of passion of all kinds in this story, keeping me on an emotional roller coaster through the end. I found Ross both complex and straightforward at the same time, making him a delicious character.

I really enjoyed this story despite my weariness with Evelyn at times and the fairly abrupt ending. Be prepared for an extremely erotic experience, as Crowe is a master at writing them. The scenes are so well written as they are very true to the characters and where they are emotionally at the time. I’m just hoping there’s a follow up to this story because I needed just a little bit more.

Ross would know how to handle this.

Whenever there’d been a woman who’d needed a bit more convincing than their usual flirty banter, or the one-two punch of the handsome dark-haired American and the smoking-hot blond German brewer hadn’t convinced her, Austin had tended to drift away, lose interest. Then Ross used to move in and close the deal alone, give him a high sign, and the fun would commence. It was the ‘Ross Superpower’, they used to joke the morning after as they drank espressos and relaxed before a day of brewing or study.

Austin would admit that he’d never felt this way about a female, at least not this quickly. Women peopled his life, no doubt. Women thrust into his face by his meddling mother. An over-abundance of women during his years in Munich. And finally, the current one, the Chosen One, at this moment likely spending a small fortune on God knew what in Paris. This woman, this Evelyn, completely and utterly confident of her own independence—and of his predator status—would not normally appeal. Typically, he’d write her off.

This has the potential to be way too much trouble. You already have enough to worry about.

And yet…

He groaned and willed his cock to soften, without much luck. Shouldering his way back out to the noisy restaurant, he pulled up short at the vision of Evelyn seated in a chair in the hallway outside the women’s room. She was bent forward, adjusting her shoe, the strong line of her calf and thigh drawing his gaze like a magnet. He blinked as the fall of her thick blonde hair tumbled over her face, the ever-present phone held to her ear.

She laughed at whatever she heard and Austin jumped right into it, wanting more than anything to sleep and wake with that honey-rich sound in his ears. Every easygoing, go-slow bone in his body screeched to a halt and ushered in a need so deep he nearly choked on it.

Without a single thought for the possible consequences, he squared his shoulders and pulled her to her feet.

Almost a Bride by Jo Watson: Review Excerpt & Giveaway

In just one day, Annie Anderson’s life turned sideways and then completely upside down when she comes home early, finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. If that wasn’t sad enough, she ends up losing her new job on the first day. And yet it gets worse. When she goes away for a much needed excursion to a fabulous island with her friends, who shows up there but the cheating ex and his gorgeous arm candy.   As bad as Annie’s day from hell was, it was related in such a way that I couldn’t stop laughing. While my heart broke for her, Annie’s story is so cleverly written that I also found the humor in the situation. The escapades during the vacation were even more outrageous but so vividly described I felt I was witnessing everything firsthand. Even Annie’s introduction to Chris-the-writer-turned-fake-fiancé was memorable.   I’m […]

5 Favorite Scenes: BELLE CHASSE by Suzanne Johnson

5 Favorite Scenes: BELLE CHASSE by Suzanne Johnson

5 Favorite Scenes: BELLE CHASSE   Scenes are hard-working things. They all serve a function in a novel: to move the story along from one point to the next. They are the building blocks upon which any work of fiction is created. If they don’t do their job properly, the story stalls or heads off in the wrong direction. They have to be herded like sheep. But like any flock of sheep, some scenes are the favorites of the shepherd—or border collie, or novelist, in this case. Here are five of my favorites from BELLE CHASSE (sans spoilers), in no particular order. 1) Surgery by Dr. Strangepirate. Heroine DJ has a bullet in her thigh that needs removing. There is no anesthesia. There is no doctor. There are no sterile conditions. There is an undead pirate, a loup-garou, a Cajun merman, a bottle of brandy, a leather strap, and […]

Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway: The Reason for Me by Prescott Lane

It’s Halloween and this day is a challenge for both Annalyse Reynolds and Holt Miller but for different reasons. She’s emerging from a 5-year hibernation following a personal tragedy and he’s still a bit stuck following his. Their chance encounter has seismic results.   I won’t tell you any of the details of this story because the journey and discoveries are frankly delicious. This isn’t a predictable story by any measure and that kept me eagerly turning the pages. I loved their relationship, which begins tentatively and cautiously for very good reasons. Annalyse’s blog posts are deftly interspersed throughout, creating a perfect emotional pitch and communication crutch that made the story even more interesting. Holt’s gradual growth was realistic and authentic.   There are strong themes and messages that resonated both in my head and heart. The story is thoughtful and sincere in its honesty. I loved both […]
