Necessary Force by D. D. Ayres

Necessary Force by D. D. Ayres

Quick Review Georgie Flynn is a photojournalist who gets caught up in an FBI investigation, looking for a bomber they think is connected to her. They’re not sure if she’s a willing accomplice or being unwittingly manipulated. Brad Lawson is the K-9 bomb technician assigned to watch her, who happened to be her one-night stand weeks before. This story had a great start and managed to develop a solid story in just a few pages. The romance smoked from the onset but suffered a bit at the end because of its brevity. But, the ending held promise and the novella set up the series perfectly. Isn’t that what a novella is supposed to do? Oh, and let’s not forget Zander, the bomb-sniffing canine. His […]

Rear Window Redux in The Collector by Nora Roberts

Rear Window Redux in The Collector by Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts has her romantic suspense mojo back! In this latest book, we see elements of the Hitchcock classic, Rear Window, which happens to be my most favorite film.    Quick summary Lila Emerson, a professional house sitter, witnesses a woman falling from her apartment window in New York City. She saw this as she was “people watching” from her current apartment. What might have initially been classified as a murder-suicide is impacted by her quick response. Ashton Archer’s brother is one of the victims and he finds a willing partner in Lila when he decides that the police aren’t looking at the case correctly. Together they launch their own amateur investigation.    The suspense It doesn’t take long for the tension to ratchet up […]

Introducing Adrienne Giordano!

Introducing Adrienne Giordano!

Posted July 29, 2014 by Jonetta in Author Interview, Hot & Deadly | 2 Comments

We got a sneak peek at Adrienne Giordano this weekend during the Cheating Justice tour. She’s here today to tell us more about herself and her other romantic suspense books, including the Private Protectors series.    Jonetta: I understand you’re a Jersey girl now living in the Midwest. How tough was that transition? Adrienne: It was difficult, but I was single and in my twenties so I didn’t have a husband or children to relocate with me. I come from a very close family though and leaving them was extremely hard. What do you miss the most about your home state/east coast? I miss seeing my family on a day-to-day basis. There’s something special about having cousins who live next door and around the […]

Risking Trust by Adrienne Giordano

Risking Trust by Adrienne Giordano

Quick summary It’s been 12 years since Michael Taylor walked away from Roxann Thorgesson, leaving her without explanation. He’s now head of a highly successful private security company and she’s the publisher of a Chicago newspaper. But, his soon to be ex-wife’s been murdered and Michael’s now the prime suspect. It’s a long shot but he reaches out to Roxann for help in investigating the case to clear his name.   The romance Roxann’s turned the devastating loss of Michael into an outstanding professional success, even though things on the personal front are lacking. Michael’s marriage was a disaster, a serious understatement, so when he steps back into her life, there’s possibility. He had to work hard to regain her trust while still not being […]

Meet Dee Davis & Giveaway

Welcome Dee Davis to The Book Nympho! She’s the author of several romantic suspense series, including the exciting A-Tac stories. Let’s get started.   Jonetta: You have a very interesting background, having been involved in politics, public relations and acting. When and why did you make the turn to writing? Dee: I’ve always been entranced by a blank piece of paper. It’s like a whole world waiting for the words to make it happen. I guess I’ve always been a storyteller. My dad and I used to sit in the mall and make up stories about the people passing by. I didn’t seriously consider writing as a career though until I hit a midlife skid when my daughter was first going off to school and […]

Who Can You Trust in Dark Deceptions by Dee Davis

Who Can You Trust in Dark Deceptions by Dee Davis

Quick summary Nash Brennon and Annie Gallagher were once CIA covert operatives and partners. She disappeared following an op that went terribly wrong and hasn’t been heard from since (eight years). He’s now part of A-Tac, an elite CIA unit masquerading as faculty at an Ivy League college. She’s been underground in Colorado. When they hear chatter about an assassination threat, Annie’s name surfaces as the suspected sniper associated with the plot. What they don’t know is that Annie’s son was kidnapped and she’s being forced into service.   The suspense I cannot describe the heightened level of tension when a child is involved in this kind of scenario. Add a lot of deception from both sides to the mix and you get an even […]

EXCERPT “I always said you had the best ass in the FBI.” Her body froze. Eleven months, five days and—she did the math—twelve hours had passed since she’d heard that voice. The one she’d thought about time and again after his last brief visit to her apartment, and she still managed to be equal parts pissed off, concerned and flat-out heartbroken. That voice could only belong to one person. Thus the remark about her ass and—wow—she always knew he had a set of stones, but this was too much even for Mitch Monroe. The man she’d spent all these months trying to forget. Months of burying herself in cases, months of begging her boss for every available opportunity to keep her mind occupied, months of […]
