Review: Big Bad Beast by Shelly Laurenston

I absolutely love Shelly Laurenston’s writing. She does an excellent job of mixing action, sex, and humor in her books. I love how the women are kick ass and take no crap from their mates. This book was so freaking funny. Especially during the 4th of July weekend when all the shifters were under one roof. I had forgotten how much fun it is to have bears and lions in the same place. Lock and the Shaw boys are priceless and how can you not love the term “House Cat Someone”. (OK, for those of you that have read this series you know what I mean and the ones that haven’t, don’t judge me. Read it, already!) Dee-Ann and Ric’s book has been in the […]

Audio Review: Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews

Overall this series is something of a post-apocalyptic universe where technology and magic struggle for control over the world. The plots are complex, exhilarating and even though this is urban fantasy there is still a healthy dose of romance. This book has the most romance so far, but this is not your standard romance where you know that all will be well in the end. Kate is such a great heroine. She is strong-minded and tough, smart ass chick that is totally likeable. And in this 4th installment of the series, we do not just see the tough sword swinging Kate but we also get to see her softer side. If you are up to date on the series then you will remember the […]

Review: Eternal Seduction by Jennifer Turner

Review: Eternal Seduction by Jennifer Turner

I first read Eternal Seduction in 2009 after I saw a few posts about it in one of my Shelfari groups. I loved it so much that I looked up the author to find out if she had any more books out and found that she was writing a second book in the series, Eternal Hearts. After a lot of work on Ms. Turner’s part to get EH published it is finally being released June 1, 2011. So I decided to do a re-read of ES to refresh my memory on the characters and the developing plot since the main character of EH is introduced in Eternal Seduction. This is not your usual paranormal romance where the human heroine tries to save the brooding thousands-year-old […]

Lover Unleashed by J.R. Ward

WOW. Where to start. (Must remember NO SPOILERS). This might have been Payne’s book but it seemed more like Vishous volume 2. There was a lot of V in this one and when there’s V you know Butch is not far behind. Since there was so much of V, let’s talk about him first. He was on an emotional roller coaster in this one. And he took Butch and Jane with him for a ride. Speaking of Jane (Boooooo!) I’m still mad over Ward’s choice for V and Butch’s shellans. I think those two guys have more chemistry together. (signs) Payne and Manny is a good fit and I can’t wait to see what their future holds, especially for Manny. Ok moving on to […]

Review: Witch Blood by Anya Bast

Review: Witch Blood by Anya Bast

Bast knows how to mix hot love scenes with action. In this 2nd installment of the series we learn more about the background of the witches in world that Bast has developed. Yes this book is a little predictable when it came to the couple, boy meets girl, they fight falling in love with each other. But hey, that the case with most romance books so I over look that part. The over all plot with the witches and demons and how they are connected kept me reading this one. The last 50-80 pages of the book really pick up on the setup of plot for the next two books and I can’t wait to see how the witches deal with the things they have […]

If you are a fan of the Demonica series this is a great little side story. It’s about two Guardians that work together and have fallen in love with one another. Things go wrong on an assignment and Kaden gets turned to a vamp and the couple has to deal with his new status in the underworld. We get to see a little of Tayla (she is leading female in Please Unbound, 1st book in the Demonica series) when Andrea and Kaden goes to her for help. This is a short but action and passion packed story from Larissa Ione. I highly recommend it to anyone that is having Demonica withdrawals like me since the series has ended.

Jaz is a tough heroine with a smart mouth. Got to love those kick-ass chicks with attitude. She is a totally believable character with her family problems with her stubborn dad, little sister, and twin brother. And since this book is about a tough heroine that works for the C.I.A. that is partnered with a Vamp you know there will be action in the book. There was a good mix of humor with action and I liked the side characters and hope they continue to show up in future books. The relationship that Jaz and Vayl have starts out as a great working partnership and then by the end of the book it turns into something more. But there is not much romance in this […]

I was curious about this book after I saw a few discussion threads on Shelfari about the abnormalities of the males in this series. (Two penises, really?!) While some were put off by this, me being the sick puppy that I am, I was fascinated. So my curiosity led me to buy the book used on Amazon without really researching it. I didn’t realize it was set in the early 1800’s. Now I’ve never read historical romances and after reading this book I don’t think I would like them. The reasoning being I don’t care for the time period where women were basically slaves to their husbands. They usually had no choice in whom they marry and that was true in this book. Jane was […]
