Review: Witch Heart by Anya Bast

Witch Heart is a moderate read, but it’s not my favorite in the series. I actually started skimming the book toward the end because I got tired of all the running that Claire and Adam had to do in order to stay out of the reach of the Atrika demons, Tevan and Kai. I get that the Atrika are these badass demons but really two of them against a large group of witches and on that is as powerful as Claire; they should have been able to stand their ground a little better in my opinion. But aside from that, the book was a pretty good read. Like most couples in romance books, Claire and Adam had their own baggage they had to work through […]

Review: Scandal at the Farmhouse by Cody Young

Review: Scandal at the Farmhouse by Cody Young

Scandal at the Farmhouse may be a novella in size but the story is worthy of the size of a true novel. Ms. Young does an outstanding job of telling the story of young Clara’s complex life, in a time where women are seen as property that can be bartered over like livestock. Clara is naive when it comes to the relationships between men and women. She was once happy about the idea of marry Major Braithwaite. But once she starts receiving letters from her older sister, Olivia about how she is unhappy in her own marriage. Clara starts rethinking her upcoming marriage. One day while Clara is reading one of Olivia’s letters in the meadow between her family’s estate and the neighboring farm she […]

Audio Review: Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris

May have spoilers if you have not read books 1-3. Ok. This one is a re-read for me. Well, I cheated a little and checked out the audio book from the library and listened to it at work since I have so many other books to read at the moment. Anyway – I wanted to revisit this book to refresh my memory on the little details before the new season of True Blood starts on June 26th. The 4th season is based on the 4th book, Dead to the World. I read Dead to the World for the 1st time in 2009 and I loved it. The biggest thing that stuck with me from this book was the shower scene (if you have read it […]

Review: Bitten to Death by Jennifer Rardin

Review: Bitten to Death by Jennifer Rardin

Bitten to Death is the fourth book in the Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin. This one like the 3rd book was a little slow in my opinion. There was not enough action and I kept waiting for something to happen between Jaz and Vayl. I understand this is an Urban Fantasy series and the romance part is not usually “in-your-face” like in paranormal romance but come on, four books and still no hanky-panicky?! I’m sure I am feeling just a frustrated as Vayl. In Bitten to Death, Jaz, Vayl and David are invited to Vayl’s old Vampere Trust by the leader, Hamon, in hopes of finally catching Edward Samos, aka The Raptor. For those of you that have not read this series yet, Samos is the […]

Review: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

Review: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

I’ve had Molly Harper’s “Nice Girls” series on my shelf for a while but I’ve not gotten around to reading them yet but after borrowing How to Flirt With a Naked Werewolf (HFNW) from a friend I will have to move them up my TBR list. HFNW was a fun and light read about Mo, a soon to be 30 old year that has to move from Mississippi all the way to Grundy Alaska, in order to get away from her nosey tree hugging parents to have her own life. Even though Mo is an outsider in Grundy she falls in step with the locals very fast when she takes a job at the local saloon as the cook. Mo makes friends with everyone in town, […]
