As a world-class dancer at the height of her career, Emily enjoys all the perks of fame—the parties, the glamour, the tours—but they’ve also attracted the attention of a dangerous ex-boyfriend hell-bent on getting her back.

Enter Carter Kincaid, a bodyguard so crushingly sexy he takes her breath away.

Carter’s the best in the business, and Emily is—professionally speaking—off-limits. But when it comes to stirring his desires, she’s making all the right moves. What’s happening between them is so hot it could get both of them burned. As Emily’s past gets closer, Carter is willing to break every rule of the job to save her. But letting Emily into his life also means letting her in on the secrets of his own past. For these two, falling in love could be the greatest risk of all.

Bodyguard is full of sexy chemistry, humor, and an edge of danger. Both contemporary and suspense romance readers will enjoy this HEA.

Bodyguard is a stand alone novel with a loose connection to Bombshell with a mention of the hero, Brad Sinclair. The way Carter Kincaid, hero of Bodyguard refers to Brad as a player I have a feeling these stories take part around the same time since Brad settles down by the end of his own book.

Where Bombshell focused on a movie actor (Brad) and his nanny (Cara), Bodyguard is a romance about choreographer (Emily) and her best friend’s bodyguard, (Carter). Emily and her BFF moved from Chicago to LA to “hit it big”. Both are singers but Emily stepped out of the limelight because of her jealous boyfriend. He was the kind of guy who didn’t want anyone looking at his woman. Emily thought it was love and gave up her dreams of being a singer and became a choreographer for her friend who did hit it big.

Bodyguard has a suspense element in the way that Emily’s ex stalkers her and has kicked it up so her BFF loans out one of her top bodyguards to watch over her and keep her safe. The only problem with Carter being Emily’s bodyguard is that they are sexually attracted to each other and he can’t date the person he is protecting.

While I’m no stranger to CD Reiss, this was my first time listening to the narration work of Joe Arden and C.J. Bloom. It took me a few chapters to warm up to both narrators but by the end of the Bodyguard they had become Carter and Emily to me. There pacing and emotions were spot on for the characters and the story.

About C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did give her a big enough ego to try her hand at books.

She’s been nicknamed the “Shakespeare of Smut,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Shuttergirl by C.D. Reiss

Shuttergirl by C.D. Reiss

C.D. Reiss is my go to author for dark and complicated romances. Jo Raylan is a go to narrator for sexy and emotional deliveries. When these two ladies work on a book together its pure magic! Shuttergirl is a story about a girl and a guy with a high school history. The usual class separation romance. She (Lane) a girl who bounced between foster homes and he (Michael) a popular and rich guy with famous actors for parents. Fast forward a few years and she is taking his picture. He grew up to be an actor and she a paparazzi. Lane is use to being the one behind the camera, not the one in front of it. At least […]

Grab the Kindle book for $3.99 and add the audio for only $1.99! I’m a big fan of C.D. Reiss. She writes great erotica romances. Bombshell is not erotica and that’s ok. I was detailed to see that I enjoyed it just as much as Reiss’s steamier titles. Not to say Bombshell doesn’t get steamy, it’s just a different kind of sexy. Bombshell is a romance between nanny and sexy Hollywood actor from Arkansas. Freaking Arkansas! (My home state) But this isn’t the that kind of story. Brad gets a big bombshell in the form of a 5-year-old daughter he didn’t know anything about, Nicole. Brad is the typical party guy in Hollywood so when he becomes a dad overnight he needs help. That’s where Cara, the […]

Separation Games by C.D. Reiss

Separation Games by C.D. Reiss

WARNING: While I did not have an issue with it and I thought that Reiss handled the scene and characters with care, there is a scene between Adam and Diana that some readers may not be comfortable with. While I would not call it a simulated rape scene it does push the line that some readers may not want to experience.    CD Reiss never fails to leave me feeling emotionally drained and satisfied all at the same time. I have been waiting for Separation Games since I was 50% into Marriage Games. Diana and Adam are two wonderfully broken people. They lived five years of marriage together never really being their true selves or the real couple they could have been. After Diana left Adam they both […]

Marriage Games by C.D. Reiss

Marriage Games by C.D. Reiss

C.D. Reiss is permanently on my auto-buy list and so is Sebastian York, listening to Marriage Games is no brainer! Marriage Games is told through both Adam and Diana’s POVs, with the first half of the book told from Adam’s POV while the second half switches to Diana’s POV.  switching back between Present Tense and Past Tense. Each chapter is labeled as Present Tense, Past Perfect, feeding off the flashback aspect and the literary aspect of the publishing business the couple own and run together. I love it when an audio book has switching POVs is performed by a male and female narrator. Elena Wolfe voices Diana’s POVs and her dialogue even in Adam’s POV. Sebastian York voices Adam’s POV and his dialogue during Diana’s […]

Series Catch Up: The Submission Series by CD Reiss

I don’t know why I waited so long to list to the Sequence Two audio bundle in CD Reiss’s Submission series.  This set of stories about Jonathan and Monica is just an emotional rollercoaster that Sequence One. I was as emotionally wrung out as Monica was listening to the Control, Burn, Resist. I found myself taking on the role of Monica, being both turned by Jonathan and wondering why she was willing to allow him to sex her up to get her to stop asking questions. Anytime I read or listen to a romance that has BDSM elements I wonder how much of those parts are real. Some sound fun, some sound naughty, some nice (having someone to take care of you) […]
