Join Jake and Chelsea, Stanton and Sofia, Brent and Kennedy as they navigate the hilarious and heartwarming hurdles of love, life and the law in this final addition to the Legal Briefs Series.

There was a time when Jake Becker had it all together. He was controlled, driven, ruthless—in and out of the courtroom.

Then, six irresistible orphans and their heartbreakingly beautiful aunt crashed into his perfectly ordered life. They changed everything. They changed him. Now he’s a husband, an upstanding member of society, a father figure—a family man.
And he’s pretty damn good at it.

Sure, he has to referee sibling smackdowns, re-learn algebra, ensure his clients stay of jail, and keep his wife happy—but it finally feels like he’s got it together again....

So, of course something has to screw it all up.

It’s huge. Life-changing. Kind of terrifying.

And it will be the most amazing, perfect thing he’ll ever do.

I love Emma Chase! I know going into one of her stories I’m going to laugh, get turned on and possibly sniffle. Sidebarred, had me smiling the whole time, even through the sniffly parts.

After reading Appealed, I had hoped we would get more on the kids that took over the bad boy turned lawyer, Jake Becker’s life. I had high hopes for a spin-off series about the kids when they grew up but I guess we won’t be getting it. But Sidebarred took care of all my wishes in one amazing novella and catches us up on all the characters from the Legal Briefs.

Sidebarred that’s place a couple of years after the 3rd and final full-length novel and the couples have been busy. They’re all married, some of have babies and others  are expecting babies. While we get to see them all, the main focus of the story is on Jake, Chelsea and their brood of 6 kids that happen to be her niece and nephews. The large family is coping well with everyday life and they have a rhythm to their madness.

Chelsea’s voice is low, so the kids can’t hear. “There will never be anything sexier than watching you – with your muscles and tattoos – braiding a six-year-old’s hair.”

I shrug. “My braids are awesome.”

Watching Jake and Chelsea double team the kids is a hoot! But being a married couple with a house full of kids doesn’t turn down the heat between them.

Making love sweetly has its place; long hours of endless foreplay are great, too. Hell, I can even get into the romance stuff – candles and rose petals and warm baths. But hard, fast fucking should never, ever be underestimated – ’cause it’s awesome. Even for married people, even for couples with kids.

Maybe especially for them.

Like I said, there’s still the heat.

And then there are the kids. OMG, they are too cute and funny as hell.

“Somebody tell me the old-fashioned way!” Regan yells.

And Rosaleen gets fed up. “It’s when the man and woman fall in love and the man puts his penis in the woman’s vagina and nine months later a baby comes out of it.”

Regan looks at me like I’m a monster.

“You put your penis in Mommys vagina?”

Christ, this went downhill quick.

“Why would you do that?”

From the mouth of babes, lol!

Seriously, if you guys have not tried Emma Chase yet you really need to! If you’re a fan of romances told from the hero’s POV, love sexy times, snarky humor and strong heroines pick up a copy of any of Chase’s books! But if you want to start with the Legal Briefs series you need to start with book 1, Overruled or at the very least read Jake and Chelsea’s book Sustained before you read Sidebarred.

I just know going into an Emma Chase book that I’m going to laugh, get turned on, and reach for the next book when I’m finished. Appealed had two of my favorite romance tropes; friends to lovers and second chances. Brent is the last in the group of friends in The Legal Briefs series to get his HEA. And like so many playboys before him, he swore he wasn’t going to settle down with one woman. But when the love of his life comes back into his life after being gone for fourteen years, he’s singing a different tune. Brent spots a beautiful woman at a family party and wonders who is she and how fast he can get her undressed. Then […]

Sustained by Emma Chase + Interview

Confession, I had an egalley via Netgalley to read but I got behind on my reading and when I saw Sebastian York was the narrator I bought the audio of Sustained.   I. Had. To. While I enjoyed the first book in the series, I wasn’t wow’d by Overruled.  But with Sustained, The Legal Briefs series has hit the sweet spot with the second installment. Fans of Drew Evans in Chase’s Tangled series are going to LOVE Jake. Much like Drew, Jack throws women away like used tissues. He doesn’t do repeats or relationships. He’s always honest and up front with them. “I’m going for a run. There’s coffee in the pot and cab money on the front table. You don’t need to be here […]

Beginning or End Overruled starts with Stanton and Jenny in high school and pregnant. Jenny tells Stanton to leave and go to college. Few months apart they decide to have an “open” relationship understanding they love each other and they won’t talk about their other “dates”.   Ten Years Later Yeah you read that right, ten years and Stanton and Jenny still have an “open” relationship. He’s been in DC and she’s stayed in Mississippi all this time. So Stanton and Sofia are friends with benefits because Stanton is still hanging on to Jenny. Well Stanton gets a wake up call when he receives a wedding invite for Jenny’s wedding. Then like the clueless guy he is he asks Sofia to go to Mississippi with him […]

Drew at the Altar!! Tied by Emma Chase

Drew at the Altar!! Tied by Emma Chase

He’s back and in great form! The day has finally come, Drew and Kate’s wedding. It wouldn’t be fitting for these two if there wasn’t some drama so I was prepared. From the bachelor/bachelorette parties to the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day itself, things are lively and stocked with lots of laugh-out-loud moments. Drew will also surprise you, too. This man has not only turned in his player card but has gone all in on being a committed partner and devoted father. His level of seriousness here is remarkable given where he was at the beginning of the series. Sebastian York’s narration of Drew continues to be outstanding. He is so synonymous with this character and is largely responsible for my utter love of […]

Drew Out Shines the Rest in Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Probst, Chase & more

All the audio books I’ve listened to starts with the book info and who narrates it. This anthology didn’t tell at the beginning of each story who the narrators where. I’ve listen to both of the male narrators before so I knew which one was narrating but I had to research the female narrators to figure out who was who.   SEARCHING FOR YOU by Jennifer Probst Narrated by Madeleine Maby 4 stars This is my first time listening to Madeleine Maby and “reading” Jennifer Probst. I enjoyed both of the ladies’ work. Sexy romance where the couple meets again after 10 years really worked for me. I love romances were the couple gets a second chance at love. And boy do these two have some […]

So Good We Had to Review it Twice! Tangled by Emma Chase

So Good We Had to Review it Twice! Tangled by Emma Chase

Check out Jonetta’s Review. If you read romance of any kind you’ve read the typical man whore. You know the one that sleeps with a different chick every night and doesn’t want anything to do with love. And there’s always that one woman that brings them to their knees. So what makes TANGLED different? It’s told from that man whore’s POV. TANGLED is written from Drew’s POV and it’s written as if Drew is talking to the readers. We start by seeing the near end of the story and Drew walks us back to the beginning before he screws it all up with Kate. And with the story being told by Drew it comes off crass with his blunt  language. Because come on when it was from Kate’s […]
