Vampire for Christmas

It was one last mission. Shannon, a demon hunter with the agency, is looking forward to leaving behind the small town and the vampire she’s been stuck with for the past two years. Things are getting complicated fast and she wants out. A fresh start, free of her vampire partner, awaits her if she can survive their final mission and the lonely Christmas holidays.

It was one last mission. Rafe, a vampire doing time with the agency, watches it approach with dread weighing heavily in his stomach. Two years of working with Shannon has been difficult, especially since he started falling for her, but he doesn’t want their partnership to end. He has barely a few days to make her face her feelings and stop her from leaving, and he intends to do just that.

When a slimy demon threatens the season of peace and goodwill, it’s the chance Rafe has been waiting for and the moment Shannon secretly fears. Rafe’s determination to prise open her heart and her own resolve to keep it closed clash as violently as they do with the demon, and threatens to end as messily.

Can Rafe make Shannon see that his love for her is real and that she feels something for him too? Can Shannon face her fears and her past, and stop herself from running away from both? Will a wish on a star bring her what her heart truly desires—a vampire for Christmas?

In the spirit of cleaning out my ebooks and getting into the holiday mood, I binge read a few holiday novellas I’ve been holding on to for a few years. Here are my quick thoughts on them.

I wish I had not waited so long to read Vampire for Christmas by Felicity Heaton. It was a great mix of action, humor, and romance to fill that paranormal void. Rafe and Shannon made me think of other couples where the heroine is a vampire hunter and the guy is a vampire. Like Buffy/Spike and Cat/Bones. Their love wasn’t meant to be and yet their two years working together, hunting demons side by side gave them both something the other was missing. It was great to see this couple get a HEA. Even though Vampire for Christmas is a short novella about two characters I have never read about, Heaton made me connect with them and really care about what happened to them.

Review of Holiday NovellasThe Naughty List by Kate Eden

A Find Your Fantasy erotic short story.

Ever want to be the heroine of your own erotic adventure? With the Find Your Fantasy series, you get to do just that. Embrace the power to choose any path—and any partner—in this sexy series of short stories tailored for today’s empowered woman.

Being naughty has never felt so nice!
You accept an invitation to an exclusive Christmas party in the hopes you’ll get your stocking filled. But at this party, Santa’s only got presents for girls on the naughty list. You’ll never look at candy canes the same way again.

I had so much fun reading The Naughty List by Kate Eden (Jaye Wells). I have never read a “choose your own adventure” type read before. At the end of each chapter you have a choice to make and depending on which choose you make you are led to the next chapter in the very short but extremely hot read.

Since I had so much fun with the format of the story I’m giving it an extra star. I enjoyed it so much that I went back and read the other chooses. LOL Let’s just say the Naughty List was more fun than the Nice List and it was naughty enough.

Sadly this title and the two others in the “series” are no longer available.

About Kate Eden

Kate Eden comes from a long line of mouthy broads who love to read, so it’s probably no surprise she caught the writing bug early. An avid romance fan since her early teens, Kate loves writing–and reading–stories about plucky heroines, sexy heros and the weird and wild journey people take on their way to love. She loves good food, cheap booze, and believes laughter is the cure for just about everything.

Blood and Snow by Felicity Heaton

Blood and Snow by Felicity Heaton

I was scrolling through my Nook and saw Blood and Snow for $0.99 – snatched it up. I love reading Felicity Heaton’s books and was a bit surprised that this one was standalone. A war has been raging between the vampires and humans for a couple hundred years. The setting is a bit medieval, which was great, and the world building was enchanting. The description of the surroundings and the breakdown of the garrison seemed so authentic. The book has a dark feeling about it and kind of reminded me of Underworld. Scarlet is a newly transformed vampire freshly enlisted. She has a huge crush on her superior, Captain Corazon. Ever since he saved during her first mission, she’s been in love with him and […]

Taken by a Dragon by Felicity Heaton

Taken by a Dragon by Felicity Heaton

I finally popped my dragon shifter cherry with Felicity Heaton’s Taken by a Dragon. I’ve been waiting for this book since book 2, Claimed by a Demon King where Loke grabs Anais from the battlefield. I loved how Heaton took well-known dragon traits and included them in Loke as a human and dragon. And I really enjoyed the fact that Loke lets Anais know that there is no man and dragon, that he is both no matter what form he is in. Heaton helped give a visual picture of the man and dragon with the physical look of Loke. He has blue hair and wears blue leather pants when he is in human form, then when he shifts into his dragon form his has blue […]

Bitten by a Hellcat by Felicity Heaton

Bitten by a Hellcat by Felicity Heaton

I’ve been a fan of Felicity Heaton for a few years now, so I know she can pack a punch with a novella sized story. But I would have liked Bitten by a Hellcat to be a little longer so that Cait and Owen’s relationship to develop at a slower pace. It was a little to insta-love for me, the plot wrapped up too fast and neatly but there was enough heat between the pages to keep me warm while I read it in one sitting. A notable change that Bitten by a Hellcat brings to the Eternal Mates series is that the hero is the mortal and the heroine is the supe. Owen is a supe hunter and Cait is a hellcat in need […]

Craved by an Alpha by Felicia Heaton

Craved by an Alpha by Felicia Heaton

the plot Craved by an Alpha is about Cavanaugh, a snow leopard shifter that currently has the title of alpha of his pride but he doesn’t want it. He left his pride almost 5 years ago to lose the title (it’s a pride rule). Why doesn’t he want the title? He’s in love with his fated mate, Eloise but because of his alpha status they can’t be together. Eloise has been hunting for Cavanaugh for two years to bring him back to their pride because the current guy acting as alpha is a real douch canoe. the romance Cavanaugh and Eloise romance is both sweet and heated. He has known for nearly ten years that Eloise is his fated mate but kept it to himself since […]

Purrr! Hunted by a Jaguar by Felicity Heaton

Purrr! Hunted by a Jaguar by Felicity Heaton

I love the fact that roles are flipped between Iolanthe and Kyter in HUNTED BY A JAGUAR. In most paranormal romances when there’s a huge age gap it’s the guy that’s hundreds or even thousands years older than the woman. Iolanthe is around 2400 years old elf treasure hunter. Kyter is a few hundred years old half jaguar, half demon shifter. Kyter might be the jaguar but he makes a joke about her being a cougar. The males are usually the stronger of the two but Iolanthe can kick ass. Kyter’s no weenie but I’m not sure if he could take Iolanthe if they were to fight to the death. Another thing that’s flipped is that usually with the male being much older he is […]

More Dark than Sexy! Tempted by a Rogue Prince by Felicity Heaton

More Dark than Sexy! Tempted by a Rogue Prince by Felicity Heaton

WOW Vail is two parts Zsadist (BDB) and one part Uilleam MacRieve (IAD). Vail is the “mad elf prince” striking fear in all the paranormal world. But Vail is not “mad” by choice. He was driven to it over centuries of being under the spell of a dark witch. He was forced to kill people.  Much like Zsadist in the BDB series by J.R. Ward, Vail was sexually abused, well really he was repeatedly raped by the dark witch. It’s no wonder why Vail would hate all witches much like Uilleam MacRieve. They both hate witches because of how they were abused by one and both of their fated mates are witches. Vail has a severe case of PTSD. Any time he feels magic, sees […]
