Lindsey Hughes has always had a passion for old things - she's in the estate sale business, after all. But when she uncovers a six-hundred-year-old vampire in a secret room at her latest estate, it's a bit much for even this antiques lover.

Rand FitzWulf has been trapped in his coffin for centuries, and he's had plenty of time to think about revenge. He's not about to take no for an answer, not when it's coming from a succulent human female with a scent that could drive any vampire mad with lust. But Rand can't let a potential blood vassal distract him from his mission.

Forced to work with the vampire warlord, Lindsey discovers a dark underworld she never knew of . . . and has to fight her own conflicting desires. Because Rand is as bloodthirsty as he is charming, and he wants Lindsey for his own. Can she give in to Rand's needs - all of them - even if it puts her heart at stake? And what will she do when she finds out Rand doesn't intend to survive his quest for vengeance?

Disclaimers from Jessica Sims via Goodreads

The book says it is #5 in the Midnight Liaisons series. It is not! This book completely stands alone and is not even in the same ‘universe’. The vampires in that series are not the vampires in this series.

When I first heard about Between a Vamp and a Hard Place I thought it was going to be part of the Midnight Liaisons series. The cover and title fit with the others in the series. But in the end, I choose to read it because I enjoy Jessica Sims and it didn’t matter if it was part of the series or not. Because, a Jessica Sims novel always brings fun and sexy time.

Lindsey and her BFF, Gemma take a trip across the pond from Nebraska to Venice to clean out an apartment in hopes of finding treasures to sell in order to save their business. But for Lindsey the biggest find came in the form of the sexy vamp named, Rand. Reading about an antique dealer finding a 600-year-old vampire is just too good!

I loved seeing Sims use some of the “old” vampire myths in Between a Vamp and a Hard Place, like garlic, holy water, having to be invited in (but every time they enter a place, even a place they’ve entered before?) and not being able to cross running water (I’ve not seen that one in a long time and not in a romance book).

While Lindsey tries to help Rand find another vampire to unload him on so she can get back to work helping Gemma, she learns that handing the sexy vamp over to someone else won’t be that easy.

First Thought Sexy virginal cave lovin’. Ryder I was excited to get to Ryder’s story, it was going to be my first dragon shifter novel. But Ryder is not a dragon, she’s a changeling. What’s the difference? Not really sure since she has characteristics of a dragon; scales, wings and a tail. Ryder is a big flirt but she actually has very little experience with men because of her secret. See anytime she is touched by a man she starts to change into her other form. But a fortuneteller told her that her true love will break her “curse”. Hugh Hugh is a great character. He’s new to our world. He’s big, quite and kind of yummy. Hugh is working for a Fae […]

FREE for Kindle – At the time of this review  After meeting Jackson in book 2, DESPERATELY SEEKING SHAPESHIFTER, I was hoping he would get his own story. Jackson is the quite and sexy plumber that worked for Ramsey the bear shifter in DSS. He’s been on his own with a younger wolf shifter Dan for a few years. Which is unheard of since Jackson is an alpha. But he doesn’t want to be a leader of a pack and finds his small pack of two to his liking, until he gets a call from Alice through the Midnight Liaisons dating service. Alice is the alpha female leader of her pack. She was the co-leader but after the death of the male alpha all the leadership […]

First Impression: Another fun and sexy read from Jessica Sims. What I liked: Everything. Marie is a great heroine. She’s strong and sassy. She’s a little naïve when it comes to supes even though she’s worked as Midnight Liaisons for a year. But she keeps to herself and the supes try to keep as much as they can from humans so her naïve about them is understandable. Joshua is just down right sexy. I picture him as Jason Stackhouse in True Blood but with more brains. LOL He’s known as a player, never having a long relationship with one woman. But Marie has him wanting more. And good for her, she makes him work for it. What I didn’t like: Nothing! As far as the […]

First Impression: I want a bear shifter of my own! What I liked: Everything! What’s not to like about a sexy, strong and silent were-bear? Ramsey is the everything that Sara needs. Protector, friend and sexy mate all rolled up into one. Sara has been in hiding from other sups. She was turned against her will into a werewolf by her abusive boyfriend. But at the end of book 1, Beauty Dates the Beast, Sara’s secret about being a werewolf is out of the bag and the local wolf pack is in need of a female. And the fact that Sara hasn’t managed the art of shifting everyone is wondered that she will not last much longer if she doesn’t figure it out. Sara is […]
