Looking for a walk on the wild side, Annabel Percy, the daughter of a powerful politician, gives in to an attraction to a sexy biker she meets one night. But she finds herself living a nightmare when she’s kidnapped and transported into a hell on earth she never could have imagined.
Born and bred into the Hells Raiders MC, Nathaniel “Reverend” Malloy lives and dies for his brothers. But when he becomes the unexpected savior of a rival club’s captive, Rev makes it his personal mission to nurse Annabel back to health—and to shelter her from the nightmares that torment her.
Once Annabel heals, she’s stunned to realize she is falling for the seductive man who saved her. Faced with their impossible attraction, can she accept the life he leads, or will Rev walk away from the only life he’s ever known for the woman he was never supposed to love?
Redemption Road was a book everyone wanted after the first book. “Rev” is a great guy and now he is president of the club. His mindset is very real; he treats all people better than one would expect. Other than those he kills. Annabel really grew throughout the story and I appreciated it. They shared some difficult things in their lives which helped them connect and almost too quickly.
This book continued the trends from the first book as far as family, violence, poor treatment of women. Violence does include property destruction, fighting and murder. Other than some interactions with other clubs or a few scenes at the clubhouse, we don’t see that much actual biker life stuff. The story is the big events with very little of the day-to-day of their lives or work. We get more of the women’s lives and work and that is outside the club mostly.
The bottom line is I enjoyed both stories more than other biker books I have read. The sex was fairly explicit but not the primary focus in either book. There were action /adventure plots and relationship stories, so it was much more than “porn without plot.”
Deacon Malloy’s life is dedicated to the Hell’s Raiders motorcycle club. Tough, hard, and fast with his fists, he serves the group as sergeant at arms. But his devil-may-care approach to life is thrown for a loop when the five-year-old daughter he never knew existed lands on the club steps.
Alexandra Evans is devoted to all her students—but there’s always been something about Willow Malloy that tugs at her heart. There’s an aura of sadness about her, a girl in need of all the love Alexandra can give. When Willow stops coming to school, Alexandra’s search leads to a clubhouse full of bikers…and a father hell-bent on keeping his daughter always within sight.
The moment Deacon sees Alexandra, he has to have her in his bed—and he’s never met a woman yet who couldn’t be persuaded. No matter how attracted she is to Deacon, Alexandra refuses to be just another conquest. But it’s Deacon himself who could be seduced—into a brighter future for himself, his daughter, and the woman he’s falling for against all odds.
I have to say of the motorcycle club series books I have read, this felt the most realistic to me. Not that I know anything AT ALL about real clubs. I just found the books got my attention because I ride a Harley.
The violence and casual sex were present and allusions to illegal activities. I loved Alexandra and her strength. Willow was interesting but the bad seemed too bad and the good was too good, if that makes sense. I liked the limited portion of the book from her point of view. Deacon was a total jerk! I don’t find it believable any woman would fall for him other than casual sex. He didn’t seem to improve his mindset throughout the story very much, so that was a disappointment, as well as making promises he had no certainty of keeping. I LOVED how Alexandra and Willow dealt with him.
