To protect her, he will unleash the beast within…

As his pack’s second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants—until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection.

December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam has gotten under her skin in a way she hadn’t thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear.

When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going to take her to places within herself she never knew existed.

read it, track it is a way for me to track books for my reading challenges and the reviews will be super short.

Another enjoyable read from Katie Reus. I really like her mythology for her werewolves. Other supes vampires and fae are mentioned and I can’t wait to see how she presents them. So far the Moon Shifter series is a great balance between overarching plot line, action, and snark. Looking forward to the next installment.

About Katie Reus

Katie Reus is the New York Times, USA Today, & IndieReader bestselling author of the Red Stone Security series, the Moon Shifter series and the Deadly Ops series. She fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she pilfered from her mom’s stash. Years later she loves reading romance almost as much as she loves writing it. However, she didn’t always know she wanted to be a writer. After changing majors many times, she finally graduated with a degree in psychology. Not long after that she discovered a new love. Writing. She now spends her days writing dark paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense.

Targeted by Katie Reus

Targeted by Katie Reus

After skipping Targeted to start my reading experience with Katie Reus’ Deadly Ops with Shattered Duty #2) and Bound to Danger (#3), I decided it was time to finally go back and read/listen to the first book. After reading 2 and 3 I purchased Targeted on my Nook, then the series was released on audio so I decided to give it a go on audio instead. While I didn’t fall in love with Sophie Eastlake the first I heard her narrate another book I thought I’d give her another go. Sophie does a good job with Targeted. Her voice for the characters was strong, her pacing and emotions of the characters. I’ll listen to more of Sophie in the future. Soap opera plastic surgery trope I’ve seen this […]

Thanks so much to Jennifer for inviting me here today to chat about one of my favorite mediums for books! Years ago I used to listen to audiobooks only when on a road trip. I’d get a CD set from Cracker Barrel at the start of any trip (I listened to some great Linda Howard books that way!) and be good to go. About 6 years ago I got an iPod shuffle and discovered a much better way to listen to audiobooks. I also discovered some new authors and series’ that I’m still addicted to including Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series and Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series (though after listening to the first one I devoured the rest in print because I was too […]

Shattered Duty by Katie Reus

Shattered Duty by Katie Reus

Shattered Duty is the third book in Katie Reus’ Deadly Ops series but it’s my second book to read in the series. I know, I know. I need to go back and read/listen to book 1, Targeted. It’s on my reading plan.   Three reasons you should read Shattered Duty by Katie Reus: Special Agent Levi Lazaro – Who doesn’t love reading about a special agent / military, yummy alpha type?! Then add a horrific loss that sent Levi off the grid for two years looking for vengeance. Special Agent Selene Wolfe – Selene is a hardcore chick. She had a big loss in her past as well and had to grow up fast. She’s super smart, she hacked in the CIA at age […]

In Love with a Deadly Marine. Bound to Danger by Katie Reus

In Love with a Deadly Marine. Bound to Danger by Katie Reus

Bound to Danger is my 2nd Katie Reus book and she has now earned a spot on my auto read list of authors. Doesn’t matter if she’s writing about alpha werewolves or sexy military men, Reus knows how to suck you into a story. Bound to Danger is the 2nd book in the Deadly Ops series and as a reader that started with the 2nd book I can stay that it can be read without reading the 1st book. I didn’t feel like I was lost or missing any background information. But I will be going and reading book 1, Targeted.  This deadly ops is surrounded by a couple that meet about 8 years ago when Cade came home with Maria’s brother on a leave. Maria was 21 […]

Hot & Deadly | Katie Reus Talks About Balance in Romantic Suspense

Hot & Deadly | Katie Reus Talks About Balance in Romantic Suspense

Posted July 25, 2014 by Jennifer in Author Interview, Hot & Deadly | 2 Comments

Thanks so much to Jennifer for having me here today! Her question for me is: What’s the right balance of suspense and romance? I don’t think there’s a ‘right’ answer to this question for anyone. A lot of it depends on the series and what readers have come to expect. For example, my Red Stone Security series is highly character driven and shorter in length than my Deadly Ops series so there’s a higher level of romance and sensuality in those books. With the shorter length the focus needs to be on the developing romance more than an intricate plot. Whereas my Deadly Ops series is high-octane with the type of suspense, danger and twists and turns that threatens not only my main […]

Review: Alpha Instinct by Katie Reus

Review: Alpha Instinct by Katie Reus

First Impression: The urban fantasy looking covered fooled me. Great surprise to find I was reading a Paranormal Romance that hit the spot. Favorite Line/Quote: “You said kissing only”, she whispered. “Kissing covers a lot of things, love.” What I liked: The characters and the plot line. Katie Reus has created characters that I like and want to read more about. She also does a great job with the mystery parts of hiding who the villain was. I kept guessing who it was and never really knew for sure. I liked the changing POV between Ana and Connor. We get to see what they are both feeling. I also loved the fact that the couple was not an instant a love couple. They knew each […]
