read it, track reviews are a way  to track books for my reading challenges and they will be super short Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck was the hush puppy to the big catfish buffet that’s about to happen when the rest of Molly Harper’s new contemporary series, Southern Eclectic hits the bookshelves. This novella did what all starters for new series should. It set up the town and the people in it. Wither Harper is writing about vampires, naked werewolves or other plain Jane humans in some of her other contemporary romances the flavor is the same. Heart. Snark. Laughs. Sexy. Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck was an enjoyable fast read that has me wanting more from the Southern Eclectic series. I recommend it to […]

Release Day: Burn For You by J.T. Geissinger

Release Day: Burn For You by J.T. Geissinger

Burn for You is the third book I have read by this author and she is moving into an auto-read, favorite author for me. Geissinger creates strong, relatable characters. They are realistic enough to have some quirks and even those briefly on page feel developed. The dialogue is smart and funny. She makes me feel, laugh and care. The heat level is high; these are hot and sexy. I love Bianca. She is so compassionate, hard-working and talented. She is also a pistol (fiesty). Her friends and family are close-knit. She is a chef with her own restaurant which I also love. On the surface, her suitors are a bit cliche. But there is more than meets the eye. Jackson is rich and starts […]

Audio: Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett

Note: Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush and Sugar Free!   Listening to the first chapter of Sugar Daddy was one of the hardest things I’ve done in a while. Why? I requested Sugar Daddy for review on audio for the narrators alone. I love both Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers. I didn’t do much research into the title. I don’t think I even read the summary. So I didn’t know I was going to hear the heroine get gang raped. Granted the details were not as graphic as they could have been, mostly like due to the fact that she was so out of it from being drugged but it was still hard to […]

Carmen and Thomas’s story started in the previous book, Rule Master. We got a sneak peek into their relationship where Carmen was hiding something big from Thomas. Two somethings actually, as in his twin sons. Rule Changer takes us a little over a year from the end of Rule Master. The cat is out of the bag and Thomas has come to collect is family. Carmen and Thomas are both Dominates so their romantic relationship is not the norm in their world. With that issue to work out they are also dealing with the reasons Thomas broke things off with Carmen. They shared family business past that lead to his aunt killing her father. Carmen gave her trust to Thomas one night months ago and he took […]

Charlotte Wells, daughter of a US senator, met former President Hamilton and his son, Matt, when she was 11 years old and was immediately smitten with both of them. Fast forward eleven years and Matt Hamilton is running for president and invites the still crushing Charlotte to join his campaign. It doesn’t take long for these two to admit they both have strong feelings for each other. However, it’s not politically wise for the candidate to have a girlfriend when he’s this close to election day.   The story had such promise and I enjoyed the first half as we learned much about Charlotte and Matt, watching their attraction develop in the midst of an historic campaign. But once they gave into their […]

Ruthie Knox is an auto-buy, go-to author for me in contemporary romance. It’s crazy how she does it. The characters aren’t all realistic or ordinary which is something I find more believable. Some are rich, wildly successful people and some famous people.  But it isn’t about the money or the power. Although, I prefer the strong women she writes. It’s about the ideas, the hopes and dreams, and their FEELINGS. Those are authentic. They aren’t all good or bad; they have both tendencies, like real people. Mostly these people are a mess. They are in the most difficult, awkward, and unhappy situations in their work and / or personal life. The relationships sometimes seem unworkable, […]

Both Mia DeAngelis and Adam Miller have recently returned to Compass Cove on Long Island. Her grandparents lived there and she spent most summers with them growing up. Now that she’s the sole guardian for her 13-year old nephew Ben, Mia wants the quality of life she experienced in this small town and accepts a position as a librarian for the local college. Adam was an NFL star quarterback until a car accident ended his career and had him reexamine his shallow-minded lifestyle. He’s the coach for the college football team and is learning how to live a better life and have more meaningful relationships.   I found the premise for this story intriguing, drawn by the stereotypical contrasts between Mia and Adam […]

Catherine Wright is a 24-year old single mother of a five-year old daughter working as a waitress in a truck stop diner, struggling to make ends meet. When she comes upon a horrific car accident one night and stops to rescue one of the passengers, life as she once knew is over. Turns out the man she saved was hockey star Brett Madden and despite her efforts to keep her name secret, she’s eventually outed.   There are so many layers to this story, particularly as it involves Catherine who was the town pariah following an unfortunate situation when she was 16 years old. That and the fractured relationship with her family sourced her fierce independence. I loved how every move she made […]
