David may have caught his toughest case yet - solving a fifty-year-old murder.

David Lloyd has always cherished the assistance of his former police colleagues, so he can hardly refuse when one calls in a favour. But a murder fifty years cold may prove to be his most difficult case yet, especially with a victim that has never been identified.

After a chance viewing of an old photograph the investigation suddenly has new leads, taking David back to the past and into the realm of a savage serial killer. Can he finally crack the case and give a young woman the justice she deserves?

Even though this story was a short one, I was glad to be back in David Lloyd’s world no matter how briefly. This time he’s investigating a cold case from 1950, prompted by a picture he discovered in his grandmother’s basement while doing a little spring cleaning.

This case was more than cold, almost frigid, which made it even more interesting. David and his friend, Homicide detective John Kimmel, team up to work a murder where the victim was unidentified and had no suspects. Their procedurals had me intrigued, with no choice but to follow along with them. It was baffling but the resolution was satisfying, even though I hadn’t a clue.

Short, sweet and a really good reading experience.

About Liz Strange

Liz was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario where she still resides with her family and a menagerie of pets. When not working, writing or spending time with her family she enjoys reading, watching scary movies, spicy food and hitting the gym.

Liz is a self-confessed sci-fi nerd, loving Star Trek, X-Files, and Torchwood. She also loves anything to do with mythology, history and anthropology, and has a long-standing fascination with ancient Greece and Easter Island.

She has been an avid reader from childhood, and has always been attracted to stories that deal with the darker side of human nature, mysteries, crime, and things that go bump in the night. Her true (and undying) love for vampires was born when she got her hands on a copy of Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot.

Liz loves to hear from her readers and will answer any questions sent her way.

And yes this is her real name!

I had so many feelings while listening to Crash & Burn . . . I love me some Ty & Zane and the Sidewinder gang and they are all present, including Liam Bell. Series plot lines wrapped up nicely and plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. NOOOOOOO! Crash & Burn is the last book in the Cut & Run series. If you still haven’t tried the Cut & Run series you are missing out one of the best (if not THE BEST) romances! Ty and Zane are the real deal. The series is all about suspense, thrills, laughs and love, Crash & Burn had it all and was a great wrap for the series. I’ll […]

Ty and Zane get invited to be a part of Duce’s (Ty’s brother) wedding. It’s taking place in Scotland and if you’re a fan of the series you know that these guys can’t go on a vacation without murder and mayhem happening. Ty and Zane on a rug, in front of a fire, in a castle in Scotland. OH. MY. LAWD! I love that Nick and Kelly came along for the ride in Ball & Chain. They are Ty and Zane 2.0. The banter between the group is great. I was laughing so much while I listened. J. F. Harding does a wonderful job with the narration. Having mostly a male cast of characters, Harding has no problem making each of them […]

Ty and Zane head to the Big Easy for Touch & Geaux but it’s anything but easy! If you are holding off on trying the Cut & Run because you’re not sure if M/M is your thing. STOP holding off! This series is one of the best romances out there. It has not just one hot alpha hero but two and they are so fun to spend time with. They are both damaged by their pasts and we get some insight into both Ty and Zane’s past relationships and a great moment that shows these two were destined to be together. It can’t be a Ty and Zane adventure without one or both of them in danger. While in NOLA the two with Ty’s Marine […]

I’ve missed Ty and Zane. I’m so happy the rest of the Cut & Run series is now on audio! There was another narrator change; I was a fan of the last narrator so this made me a little nervous. But I’m enjoying J. F. Harding voice for the characters so I’ve enjoying him even more than the previous narrator. Ty’s family is so funny! I love the way J. F. Harding voiced them. It made scenes like below even funnier. I smile so much listening to Stars & Stripes. “We wouldn’t need your help normally, but this morning I cut your daddy’s finger off, and he says he can’t hold a hammer.” Ty’s head shot up. “You what?” “Cut his finger off,” Mara said […]

Men’s fashion photographer Connor Graham returns to his hometown in Blandton, Massachusetts to attend his uncle’s funeral. He raised him and his brother, Scott, following their mother’s death and owns property with a tenant blueberry farmer, Jed Jones. It’s Connor’s first trip back to the place that holds nothing but bad memories.   Jed’s intrigued by Connor, who’s always been openly gay, even when he lived in Blandton. Jed’s also a sensitive man of faith who’s deeply closeted. His relationship with Connor develops beautifully in the midst of difficult circumstances, both of them learning something from each other.   The story is honest, romantic and at times poignant. I loved how Connor didn’t pressure Jed to come out of the closet but instead served […]

It’s five years since we last saw Matty and Rob and their relationship is strong. However, Matty’s now a skating coach and his inner struggle with self perception and image shows up in the form of an eating disorder (or disordered eating). Rob is now a physical therapist and loves it but isn’t loving life in the city. He’s also stressing through how to best approach and resolve Matty’s issues.   I really like Matty and Rob, love them together. It was wonderful revisiting these characters. However, the storyline surrounding them is just not something I find interesting. It’s an incredible story that not only explores the concepts of disordered eating and eating disorders but how these particular characters are impacted given their […]
