The second sexy and suspenseful book in New York Times bestselling author Laura Kaye's Raven Riders motorcycle club series. Brotherhood. Club. But when her dream quickly turns into a nightmare, Alexa realizes she's fallen for a facade she can't escape-until sexy, dangerous Maverick offers her a way out.Forced together to keep Alexa safe, their powerful attraction reignites and Maverick determines to do whatever it takes to earn a second chance--one Alexa is tempted to give. I love this Rough Riders series where the club is a family who protects their own and others in trouble.  Each book features a different couple. Sexy times are hot! Because they are protecting others, abuse and other illegal acts often happen within the stories. Laura Kaye has a way of making the sexual tension build as well as the action / suspense. Generally while the characters have had tough times or made mistakes, they are strong and smart, both the males and females. I appreciate not having whiny or entitled main characters.

Ride Rough is a second chance romance. This couple, Maverick and Alexa were together when they were young.  Now Alexa is in trouble and Maverick and his club are all about protection. Maverick never gave up on her and now he has another chance. I was worried about Alexa and how she let herself fall into a routine that made me shudder. With anything, it is easy to fall off track when the change is gradual. She has family issues which take lots of time and energy, too.

Abby Craden IS the voice of these Laura Kaye series. Her sultry tone fits the sexy style of the strong alpha guys in the motorcycle club and special ops stories. I love the way she voices the characters. Each one is distinct.

It was great to see all the other club members as well as the couple from the first book, Ride Hard, Dare and Haven,There was also some interaction with the special ops team. It just adds to my comfort of being in this familiar, loved world.  I’m really looking forward to Cora’s story next in Ride Wild, available October 31, 2017.

Redemption Road  was a book everyone wanted after the first book.  “Rev”  is a great guy and now he is president of the club. His mindset is very real; he treats all people better than one would expect. Other than those he kills.  Annabel really grew throughout the story and I appreciated it. They shared some difficult things in their lives which helped them connect and almost too quickly.    This book continued the trends from the first book as far as family, violence, poor treatment of women.  Violence does include property destruction, fighting and murder. Other than some interactions with other clubs or a few scenes at the clubhouse, we don’t see that much actual biker life stuff.  The story is the big […]
