For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles’s role as his father’s enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way...

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae’s cold war with humanity is about to heat up—and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire.

READ IT, TRACK IT IS A WAY FOR ME TO TRACK BOOKS FOR MY READING CHALLENGES AND THE REVIEWS WILL BE SUPER SHORT.

Either reading or listening to a Patricia Briggs novel is always an excellent experience. Briggs is a master at weaving plot lines and developing her complex characters and the worlds they live in. Dead Heat is another very enjoyable installment in her Alpha & Omega series.

Holter Graham delivered an A+ performance.

The Beginning! Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs

The Beginning! Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs

I wish I hadn’t waited so long to start this series. This is one of the best novellas I’ve read as it accomplishes the goal of effectively introducing the characters and provides an exciting story. Anna Latham is a seemingly submissive wolf who has suffered abuse from her pack in Chicago. After recognizing a werewolf in the news as one from her pack, she bravely contacts The Marrok (werewolf king) who dispatches his son Charles, an Alpha who serves as his enforcer, to investigate what’s going on in the pack. The story was exciting and Charles is absolutely intriguing as the ultimate über Alpha. Anna emerges as a much more interesting character than she was at the beginning and I’m looking forward to following the […]

Audio Review: Fair Game by Patricia Briggs

Best book in the series so far! Fair Game had a bit different feel that the last two books since the POV included someone who was not Anna or Charles. The book actually starts out in the POV of a little girl that we later see as the grown FBI agent that Anna and Charles is partnered with to solve a serial killer case. There has been some time between the ending of Hunting Ground and Fair Game. Briggs doesn’t come out and give us an exact time frame but it’s at least around a year, maybe even more. Anna makes reference to it being several months since Charles has touched her and the events with the werewolves coming out to the public are parallel […]

Ok. In the review of Cry Wolf I stated that I would READ the rest of the series because of my dislike for the narrator. Well….I listened to Hunting Game on audio because it was only 8 hours and I knew I could get it done in one day at work. And this time around the narrator didn’t bother me as much. I guess I got use to his voice as the characters. And I have Fair Game on audio since they offered it during a sale at audible.com and it was cheaper that the book. YES I’m cheap. I really enjoy Briggs writing, world and characters. I like seeing that Anna and Charles are getting more comfortable with each other in each book. Charles […]

Audio Review: Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs

This series is set in the same world as the Mercy Thompson Series, but on a slightly earlier time line. It begins with a novella titled Alpha and Omega published in the On the Prowl anthology. The decision to continue the story was made after the anthology had already been published, which has caused some confusion, since “book 1” is an actually a continuation of the short story. The series has plenty of action, but there’s more emphasis on the romantic attraction between the hero and heroine. On a romance-readers scale, this series is sweet rather than steamy. I highly recommend reading the novella Alpha and Omega before reading Cry Wolf. You will get a better feel for Anna’s character and why hers and Charles’ relationship is […]
