When the immortal Fae destroyed the ancient wall dividing the worlds of Man and Faery, the very fabric of the universe was damaged, and now Earth is vanishing bit by bit. Only the long-lost Song of Making - a haunting, dangerous melody that is the source of life itself - can save the planet.

But those who seek the mythic song must contend with old wounds and new enemies, passions that burn hot and hunger for vengeance that runs deep. The challenges are many: the Keltar at war with nine immortals who've secretly ruled Dublin for eons, Mac and Jada hunted by the masses, the Seelie queen nowhere to be found, and the most powerful Unseelie prince in all creation determined to rule both Fae and Man. Now the task of solving the ancient riddle of the Song of Making falls to a band of deadly warriors divided among - and within - themselves.

Once a normal city possessing a touch of ancient magic, Dublin is now a treacherously magical city with only a touch of normal. And on those war-torn streets, Mac will come face-to-face with her most savage enemy yet: herself.

Narration thoughts:

THEY GOT THE JOB DONE!! And the only reason I finished the book.

I’m a huge fan of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield! I think they did a wonderful job. For me Jill is Mac! Her southern accent wasn’t over done like the other women that have voiced her. It did take me a bit to get used to Luke but that’s only because I just binge listened to The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne so I had Luke in my head as Atticus (Luke is Atticus!!!) but this is an issue I have with a few narrators. Because a have a small list of narrators I will listen to while they read a phone book (Luke and Jill being two of them) I usually try to put other books in between (by other narrators) so I don’t get the characters confused. LOL, I listen to Jill do other books too but I’ve not listened to her for a few months so I didn’t have the issue with her.

Both Jill and Luke did an outstanding job with the narration for the characters. I know they are getting judged harshly by fans of the series but it’s not easy for narrators to come into a wildly popular series like the Fever series and not get some backlash. I think it would happen no matter who the new narrators were.

Story thoughts:

Meh. This one felt like a filler book like Burned, but at least, we get some insight into Jada/Danni. Which broke my heart, and, of course, it ends on a cliffhanger.

After KMM gave Danni her own book I feel like she should’ve been the main character afterward. (But I guess you could look at it in the spirit of Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrew, were a secondary character gets a book of their own within the series. Even though I think that Mac and Barrons’ story should be over, events in Feverborn helps me see why Mac is around so much. There are issues from earlier in the series that come up again and might play at the ending (when KMM FINALLY gets around to wrapping up, which I think she could’ve done by now).

Will I read the next book? Maybe. If I choose to, I will get it from the library. I’m done giving KMM my money. And I will only listen to it on audio if Luke and Jill are back. I love them both and want to support them.

This story doesn’t have anything really extraordinary happening but does focus on Eva and Gideon’s developing relationship. As their relationship started and went from zero to sixty in record speed, this was the opportunity for them to step back and really get to know each other in ways that really matter.   The true highlight is being given Gideon’s point of view instead of getting him through Eva’s lens. I’ve never really been certain of his feelings about Eva (an obsession, crutch, etc.) and others and it was extremely helpful to have them clarified. Some were unexpected. The insights into his character were extremely interesting and helpful.   I also enjoyed the dual narrators, especially Jeremy York’s version of Gideon. He seemed to capture […]

The Romance Both Roni and Marcus are enforcers for their packs. Marcus is a big flirt and is known for his love of the ladies. Roni is a tough as nails tomboy. Marcus has been circling around Roni for a while now but Roni has done her best to keep him at arm’s length. She knows that she’s not Marcus’ usual type. She’s not the pretty, girly-girl he goes after. Roni and Marcus had messed up passes with their families so even though they might be opposites but they are a great fit for each other. I enjoyed listening to their dance and grow into their HEA. The Action Dark Instincts starts out with Roni fighting off some Jackel shifters after a car […]

Jill Redfield Brings the Erotic Shifter Action in Carnal Secrets by Suzanne Wright to Life

First Impression: Hot erotic shifter action. Favorite Quote(s)/ Scene: “I guess all I can do is ignore her. If that fails, I have rat poison and a shovel.”  “You should have known I love you. You’ve heard what they say: ‘Love sucks; true love swallows.’ As I recall, I’ve always taken every last drop.”  – eew What I liked: I liked seeing Shaya get her HEA after being hurt by Nick in Wicked Cravings (book 2). What I didn’t like: The stupid “jokes’ that Shaya’s bitchy co-work made about her red hair. What is she 8? It got old. Also I think I’m over alpha males that talk and talk and talk about what they are going to do to the female once they get her […]

First Impression: Wicked Cravings brought more of the humor, sexy times and fantastic characters that I’ve now come to expect from the Phoenix Pack series. Favorite Quote(s)/ Scene: I really enjoyed Taryn’s  birthing scene. It was great to get an update on the alpha pair from the 1st book. “No, I’m done! I’m tired, I’m sweaty, I’m in agony, and why do I feel like I need to shit?” “It’s totally natural to feel that way,” said Grace in a placatory, calming voice. “Some women even have one during labor.” “What?” The word dripped with horror. “Women can shit when they’re in labor? Tell me that won’t happen to me! Don’t you let me shit, Grace!” What I liked: I love it when a girl […]

First Impression: Mmmm… Trey is one HOT and broken werewolf alpha. What I liked: I was in the mood for a hot shifter/were romance and Wright delivered. But it wasn’t just a romance, it had some action outside the bedroom too. There was enough werewolf fighting and mystery sprinkled between the hot smut that it made for a satisfying paranormal listen. What I didn’t like: Taryn seems to have sex brought on Tourette syndrome. At first it was funny and snarky but after a while it got old. The Narration: Jill Redfield is the reason I picked up this audio. I loved her narration of the Crossfire series by Sylvia so I knew if I read this book I would do it on audio. Redfield […]

Audio Review: Entwined with You by Sylvia Day

Entwined with You is my favorite book in the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. Why? Because we get Eva and Gideon sans their usual drama. Well not 100% free but about 80% free. Eva has stopped her running and Gideon is learning to communicate more with Eva out of the bedroom. And speaking of the bedroom, another thing I liked about this installment is that Day cuts back a little on the sex scenes. Yes there is still the hot sex but there was a few scenes she glossed over. One thing I feel when listening to these books is that there could be less sex. I know what you’re thinking WHAT?! The first two books are so saturated with sex scenes that I didn’t […]

And the dysfunctional ride continues. I found myself getting bored with the same push and pull that we had in the 1st book, Bared to You, but the hot sex made me forget, at least until the next time the same issue came up again. People keep saying that Gideon Cross is hot. Yes he is but if he was a real dude I’d be calling the cops. Seriously, he is a controlling stalker and it got on my nerves in this book and made me hate Eva for putting up with it. But she starts putting her foot down about it and I was like FINALLY! Where we got to see how Eva handle Gideon’s ex last time we get to see how he […]
