When a Druid has lived for two thousand years like Atticus, he's bound to run afoul of a few vampires. Make that legions of them. Even his former friend and legal counsel turned out to be a bloodsucking backstabber. Now the toothy troublemakers—led by power-mad pain-in-the-neck Theophilus—have become a huge problem requiring a solution. It's time to make a stand.

As always, Atticus wouldn't mind a little backup. But his allies have problems of their own. Ornery archdruid Owen Kennedy is having a wee bit of troll trouble: Turns out when you stiff a troll, it's not water under the bridge. Meanwhile, Granuaile is desperate to free herself of the Norse god Loki's mark and elude his powers of divination—a quest that will bring her face-to-face with several Slavic nightmares.

As Atticus globetrots to stop his nemesis Theophilus, the journey leads to Rome. What better place to end an immortal than the Eternal City? But poetic justice won't come without a price: In order to defeat Theophilus, Atticus may have to lose an old friend.

read it, track it is a way for me to track books for my reading challenges and the reviews will be super short.

Staked is a great addition to the Iron Druid Chronicles. It wraps up a few things as a next-to-the-last-book in a series should but still leaves some meat on the bone for us to chew in the last installment. The story is told through three POVs, Atticus, Owen and Granuaile just like the previous book, Shattered.

Staked delivered some action, humor and a touch of sadness. Then gives us an ending with hopefulness for the future. I cannot wait to see how Hearne wraps up the series with Scourged, until then I’ll listen to The Purloined Poodle, the novella told through OBERON’s POV.

read it, track it is a way for me to track books for my reading challenges and the reviews will be super short. Things I loved Owen – He was a great addition to the cast of characters. I loved that we got his POVs Oberon – He is always a favorite of mine and when he has more page time it’s an outstanding addition to the humor. Yetis! Luke Daniel’s narration! He really showcased his talent in Shattered! He did every role perfectly!   Things I didn’t love (didn’t hate but could have been different) Multi-POVs for every chapter. I liked that we got Owen and Granuaile’s POVs but I would have like a little less of Granualie as her story felt like a […]

read it, track it is a way for me to track books for my reading challenges and the reviews will be super short. Wow. We jumped 12 years and Granuaile has completed her training. Tons of Oberon Killer clowns bow bow chicka chicka (but off page) for three sun rises! I know this series is not a romance but it would have been nice to have something. There’s been sexual tension for 12 years. Just kissing would’ve been enough. But Oberon’s reaction was fun.   The plot thickens and a chase across Europe. Oberon breaks my heart with his strong loyalty to Atticus Loved getting Granuaile’s POV There’s a death of a secondary character. It was sad and that character will be missed. I […]

Audio Review of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield’s Performances for Feverborn

Audio Review of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield’s Performances for Feverborn

Narration thoughts: THEY GOT THE JOB DONE!! And the only reason I finished the book. I’m a huge fan of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield! I think they did a wonderful job. For me Jill is Mac! Her southern accent wasn’t over done like the other women that have voiced her. It did take me a bit to get used to Luke but that’s only because I just binge listened to The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne so I had Luke in my head as Atticus (Luke is Atticus!!!) but this is an issue I have with a few narrators. Because a have a small list of narrators I will listen to while they read a phone book (Luke and Jill being […]

Audio Review: Snuggle Pumpkin! Tricked by Kevin Hearne

READ IT, TRACK IT  IS A  WAY FOR ME TO TRACK BOOKS FOR MY READING GOALS AND THEY WILL BE SUPER SHORT REVIEWS. Tricked had a lot of face time with two of my favorite characters in Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles, Coyote and Oberon. Both characters bring much-needed comic relief and Luke Daniels voices them so well.  Atticus is dealing with a few things leftover from earlier books and manages to add more trouble on to his plate. With the help of Oberon and his apprentice Granuaile he lives to see another day. And the next installment, Trapped shall be interesting. But before I start it I’m going to check out a few of the short stories. Side note – Atticus is REALLY old and watching […]

Ronin Black Using a Salmon Ladder! Schooled by Lorelei James

SCHOOLED is another book I had on my Netgalley account but when I found out it was going to be produced in audiobook format I waited so I could listen to Luke and Rachel bring Ronin and Amery back to life. Their narration is so good! Amery and Ronin have been married for 6 months now and they are heading to Japan for 2 months. Amery is excited and uneasy at the same time. She only speaks a few words in Japanese and doesn’t know all the rules of the culture yet. Amery is a strong woman and isn’t use to relaying on someone so much. This is were we see how much Ronin and Amery has grown as couple. Ronin realizes that Amery has […]

Thor is a Thunder Turd! Hammered by Kevin Hearne

Thor is a Thunder Turd! Hammered by Kevin Hearne

Hammered is the 3rd book in Kevin Hearne’s  Iron Druid Chronicles. While we get some of the same humor that I love from Hearne, Hammered was just a bit slower than the last two books. Why? Most of the book reminded me of the LONG journey in Lord of the Rings. You have a group of guys traveling to find Thor, the Thunder God. Why do they want to find Thor? To kill him. Atticus promised Leif that he would help him. And after hearing all of the guys in the group stories (male bonding around the camp fire)  about Thor. Atticus gets a clear picture about what a douche bag Thor is. Two of my favorite scenes in Hammered was of course the speech that […]

Ronin Black Has Totally Mastered Me! UNWOUND by Lorelei James

Ronin Black Has Totally Mastered Me! UNWOUND by Lorelei James

First Thought Lorelei James is now my radar! I will be trying more of her books. Why I’m Still Enjoying this Series The characters grow! They don’t make the same mistakes they did in Bound (book 1). Sure there is drama that could be avoided but really this time around much of it has to do with other people causing drama for them. It’s also easy to see that Amery and Ronin are not just about the hot, hot, hot sex. They really love each other and grow not only as individuals but as a couple. The story wraps up with a nice HEA for Amery and Ronin and I hope we get looks at them through other character’s books. I also enjoyed the […]
