Dina DeMille isn't your typical bed and breakfast owner. Her inn defies laws of physics, her dog is secretly a monster, and the only permanent guest of the inn is a former galactic tyrant with a price on her head. The inn needs guests to thrive and guests have been scarce, so when an arbitrator shows up at Dina's door and asks her to host a peace summit between three warring species, she jumps on the chance. Unfortunately, for Dina, bridging the gap between space vampires, the Hope-Crushing Horde, and the merchants of Baha-char is much easier said than done. To make the summit a success, she must find a chef, remodel the inn, keep her guests from murdering each other, and risk everything, even her life, to save the man she might fall in love with. But then it's all in the day's work for an innkeeper....

I love the team of Ilona Andrews whether I read their words or listen to Renée Raudman bring them to life for me.

Renée Raudman did an outstanding job with the narration. I especially loved her performance for the Nuans, the fox-like creatures. Her voice for them paired with Andrews’ description made them so adorable. I also enjoyed Raudman’s voice for Orro, his over-dramatic personality shined through Raudman’s narration.

I can’t wait for the next story in the Innkeeper Chronicles series by Andrews.

Check out Anne’s review.

About Ilona Andrews

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

They have co-authored two NYT and USAT bestselling series, the urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge and working on the next volumes for both.

If you’re not up to date on the Kate Daniels series there might be spoilers ahead for the series but none for Magic Shifts. You can take Beast Lord out of the Pack but you can’t keep the Pack away from the Beast Lord or the Consort. I love how Kate and Curran can’t get away from the Pack even by moving to the suburbs. Pack members keep popping up when Kate least expects them and how she reacts is priceless. For most of the series, Kate has been trying to learn the rules of being part of the Pack and living with them. Now that she and Curran are no longer living in the Keep, it’s Curran’s turn to learn what it means to […]

Another Hit from the Golden Team! Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews

Another Hit from the Golden Team! Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews

There was little doubt that I would enjoy BURN FOR ME. Why? Let me count the reasons. 1. Ilona Andrews wrote it. Team of Ilona and Gordon Andrews writes some of the best Urban Fantasy out there! Their writing is imaginative with complex world building, strong heroines and yummy alpha males. And just plain fun to get lost in. 2. Renée Raudman is the narrator. Renée narrates all of Andrews’ books (so far) and she’s the reason I didn’t read the eARC. I had to wait for the audio. Renée is the cherry on top of the hot, gooey goodness that is Andrews’ writing.   3. Great Characters Like I said above, the heroines and heroes are always fun within an Ilona Andrews’ world. But they […]

So Much Build Up… Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews

So Much Build Up… Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews

3.5 stars? Yeah. I went into MAGIC BREAKS thinking it was going to be an adrenaline filled, bloody fast pace ride. But…I’ve never listened to a book in the Kate Daniels series where I wanted to speed it up because I thought a scene or two was really slow. The part where Kate was misplaced for a time. I thought it went on too long. I was bored. All that build up But other than that really slow moment in time and what I talked about in the above spoiler the book was great. But because of those to issues I had to give it a 3.5 rating instead of a 4. My favorite parts of the book was when Since MAGIC BREAKS reads as the […]

Renée Raudman the Voice Behind Ilona Andrews, Lisa Kleypas & More

When Renée Raudman is not bring Kate and Curran to life in the awesome Kate Daniels, Urban Fantasy series by Ilona Andrews to life she is bring sexy men like Lisa Kleypas’ Hardy Cates in Blue-Eyed Devil to our ear buds. I am please to welcome one of the best in business to The Book Nympho today. Can you walk us through your prep work for a narration project? Do you prepare any notes to help decide the tone and voice to give a character when there’s not a clear description of their voice in the novel (when they do not have a distinct accent)? Hi Jennifer, Thanks so much for thinking of me for this interview!  I so enjoy your ‘blog’ and am very flattered you […]

Ilona Andrews + Renée Raudman = Urban Fantasy Gold! Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews

Clean Sweep was originally released on Andrew’s blog in pieces. I’m not one for reading books in parts so I decided to wait until it was all done and released as a finished product. Then I found out it was going to be produced on audio so I waited for it. And I’m so glad I did. All the Ilona Andrews’ books I’ve experienced has been on audio and narrated by Renee Raudman so I’ve come to expect high quality and I’ve never been let down. You can’t go wrong with a team like Ilona Andrews and Renee Raudman! Seriously, Raudman brings the writing of Andrews to life, like no one else could and Clean Sweep was a pure delight on audio. If you are […]

Audio Review: On the Edge by Ilona Andrews

Audio Review: On the Edge by Ilona Andrews

First Impression: Imagine Kate Daniels without a sword and two little brothers in toe. The World: In Kate Daniels series tech and magic battle in flashes where one is takes over. For example when tech is down and magic up it leaves all tech things (like cars) dead. Then poof another flash hits and magic is useless while tech works again. But in The Edge series there are different “worlds”, The Weird (magical world), The Broken (human world) and The Edge (separates the Weird and the Broken) . The Edge is where Rose and her family live and most of the story takes place is the narrow world between the magic and human worlds. The Characters: Rose the heroine and main character. She’s in her […]

Audiobook Review: Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

I’d heard so many positives about this series I was worried my expectations were too high and it would be a letdown. By the end of the book, that feeling wasn’t anywhere near my emotional state. Rather than talk about the details of the story, I’m focusing on the essence of it and certain elements that make this a standout book and series start. I’ll begin with the series namesake, Kate Daniels. She’s formidable as most UF heroines tend to be but in a very practical sense. Kate dresses for the part and you won’t find her in leathers or stiletto-heeled boots. Everything about her is calculated for success in life-threatening situations. She’s vulnerable, a bit cocky but not overly so. And, she’s still at […]
