Auto Zone, LOL! Vamps and the City by Kerrelyn Sparks

Auto Zone, LOL! Vamps and the City by Kerrelyn Sparks

VAMPS AND THE CITY by Kerrelyn Sparks was another fun and light listen. I liked the second book in the Love at Stake series a little more than the first book. I found the humor funnier and I connected better with the couple. VAMPS AND THE CITY’s plot of a reality TV in the Vampire World similar to the Bachelor was a fun way to get Darcy and Austin together and to showcase some great side characters. Like many paranormal romance series each book is about a different couple and all the side characters get their own books as the series goes on. And one side character I really enjoyed in VAMPS AND THE CITY was Maggie so I can’t wait to read her story […]

A Quick Bite. How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

A Quick Bite. How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

First Thought: HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE VAMPIRE is a fun and campy paranormal romance. What I liked: How the couple meet. Really, a vampire needing a dentist because he lost his fang biting into a sex doll? FUNNY! What could have been better (for me): “God’s Blood” was use in the place of any  profanity and it got on my nerves after a while. Most of the books I read have some profanity (even the few YA books I’ve read) and then some have more than enough. I’m not against a book being free of profanity but use different terms instead of sticking to the same one over and over. IMO it’s just as bad as someone dropping the f-bomb over […]

Mother Puss Bucket it’s Over! The Witch with No Name by Kim Harrison

Mother Puss Bucket it’s Over! The Witch with No Name by Kim Harrison

LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES SO THERE MAY BE SERIES SPOILERS AHEAD. The Witch with No Name may not have been the best book in the series (it was close) but it left me satisfied. What a great ending to a fantastic urban fantasy series. The last chapter almost earned it 5 stars for me. But I dropped it to 4.5 stars because I thought that The Undead Pool and Pale Demon where just a touch better. Rachel wouldn’t be Rachel if she didn’t try to mess up something good in her life. I was getting a little tired of her second guessing her being with Trent. I kept thinking “Don’t you fuck this up Rachel!” Trent really was the right guy for Rachel. […]

SPOILER! The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison

THIS POST HAS SPOILERS!   If you are not up to date on The Hollow series then read this review at your own risk. (But really who reads a review on the 12th book in a series they’ve not read?! It’s your own fault if you get spoiled on the series.) And there will be spoilers for The Undead Pool. This is less of a review and more of my gushing about the book and what happens in it.  YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! If you can’t guess by the title, THE UNDEAD POOL  installment deals with the vampires of Cincinnati. The vampires are my least favorite species in The Hollows series. I’ve just never warmed up to them as a whole and Ivy just gets on my […]

Playing with Demons in Ever After by Kim Harrison

Playing with Demons in Ever After by Kim Harrison

EVER AFTER is currently my favorite book in The Hollows series. We get a lot of Trent and Al and very little Ivy which was the best part for me. LOL With EVER AFTER Rachel has to deal with some issues that happened in PALE DEMON and A PERFECT BLOOD. As far as Pale Demon, Rachel has to work her magic to save the ever after because of the ley line she made while she was over there. And try to find a way to take down Ku’Sox (or as Jenks calls him, Cut Socks). So you have plenty of demon hijinks going on, which is always fun. Then you have to moment that Trent and Rachel shared in A PERFECT BLOOD and Rachel […]

Itchy Witch is Back in A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison

If you’ve not read Pale Demon you may not want to read this review since I talk a little about some of the events at the end of the book.  So I checked the audio book out from the library but after Jessica from Rabid Reads left a comment on my review for Pale Demon about  a bonus chapter from Trent’s POV so I grabbed the ebook so I could read it. And oh boy it was the best part of the book!! He froze as the scent of her hair met him. It was touching his cheek, tickling him.I can’t afford this, he thought, but he didn’t move, watching her finger trace the new line.  That’s just a bit of Trent’s thoughts on Rachel. I […]

Audio Review: Pale Demon by Kim Harrison

Quote that perfectly sums up the book: “The car was full of unhappy people heading west. It was the Great American Family Road Trip, all right. Whaaa-hoo!” What the What?! (Spoiler) Demons are people too… I like seeing another side to the demons. I’ve really grown to like Al. And honestly I see him more of a love interest than any of the guys currently in Rachel’s life. I know something happens in the future with Rachel and Trent thanks to all the snippets I’ve seen around the book world. But he needs to  grow a pair in order for me to like him. He lets women fight for his life. He needs to get a little more alpha or he has no hope to hold on […]

Audio Review: Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison

Audio Review: Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison

Since this is the 8th book in the series this will be a fast break down review so I can start listening to Pale Demon ASAP. First Impression: Much better than the last book, White Witch, Black Curse. And is my favorite book to date. Favorite Line/Quote: “Could you be of the mind to let me go?” “Sorry.” I said dropping my hands from his shoulders. “No. I meant a little lower.” I flushed red. “I’m working on that,” I said embarrassed. But it was kind of nice doing the nasty with a witch. Where I didn’t have to explain myself. Biology was grand. Male witches were not as well endowed as humans. and to make up for it we girls had a couple of […]
