Rydell Case’s ship is his home, his heart, and his reason for being. After his ex-wife left him—taking his brand-new megayacht, Tesoro Mio with her—she sailed off with a royal billionaire and out of his life forever. Now Ry spends his days searching for treasure—until his ship is hijacked. With the prospect of his salvage business tanking, he needs both the ship and his ex back—if only she didn’t despise him more than any man on earth. . .

When Addison D’Marco boards Tesoro Mio to find her ex-husband in her cabin, she’s furious. Ry is more handsome, more annoying, and more determined than ever. Addy can’t believe he has the nerve to demand the ship back after the way he broke her heart. With her fiancé about to board, she doesn’t want Ry back in her life to ignite painful memories and never- forgotten desires. But could it be that, amid troubled waters, Addy and Ry can salvage what they once had and have a second chance at love. . .or does fate have something else in store?

The Cutter Cay series  so far has been about the three Cutter brothers. In the previous book, Stormchaser , we learned about Jonah, the unknown half-brother. He’s great and falls for Callista. She is well educated, had a horrid childhood, and grew up living next door to the Case family.  Which leads us to this book, about the long-time enemy, Rydell Case.

Hurricane is my new, favorite book in the series.  We finally get to see some thought processes and what is going on with Rydell.  He has been married and divorced. So the relationship doesn’t feel too fast, since they already know each other well. They have issues, lots of issues. There are many people trying to control them and use them, separately and together.

The attacks are made on a personal basis rather than related to the salvage, which again seems a bit much. Again, there is deception in the crew. There is more of a mystery here about why Rydell and his ex, Addy, have so many problems.  The ending takes us a bit into the future. However, I want more. Specifically, I would enjoy at least a novella to see how the Cutters and Cases, are going to get along when Jonah and Callista marry.

Books in the series (in order) are:

Undertow

Riptide

Vortex

Stormchaser

Hurricane

Eve and Roarke are on their way home from a fancy gala when they almost run into a young woman wandering dazed, naked and bloodied in the street. Sound familiar? It echoes of 8-year old Eve, nameless at the time in Dallas. As Eve begins her investigation, she uncovers a series of like assaults that are vicious and cruel, especially this last one that continues to remind her of what was done to her prior to liberation.   What I really liked about this story is seeing how much Eve is evolving, even in how she responds to crimes that evoke memories of her awful origins. She confronts the issues differently and more responsibly. The case is chilling and gnarly but it was […]

The Cutter Cay series  so far has been about the three Cutter brothers. Now, we learn about Jonah, the previously unknown half-brother.  He actually had more of his parent’s time and attention growing up than the original brothers. But he hasn’t had the wealth or fame of the family.  I was very curious to learn more about him and how his newly found brothers would get along. Stormchaser is my favorite book so far. In addition to the suspense of the salvage projects, this one adds a historic sort of archaeological project, which to a great extent salvage is as well. There is deception in the crew (not completely unusual) and some high-tech or paranormal aspects of the project. As with the rest of the […]

The paperback ARC came in the mail to me as a surprise. I’ve always wanted to read this author so I was happy to read it. This was quite fun. I am seeing more of the genre of fantasy romance. How does this differ from paranormal romance? Well, there are similarities but fantasy tends to include both historical and paranormal aspects. I don’t know if it is in most fantasy romance but in all the ones I have read the women are strong and brave, often functioning or even recognized as equals to their men. The Embraced are born on one of two nights per year when the two moons align.  These children have supernatural powers. The kings of the different lands don’t like […]

Excerpt   Quinn had taken the floor for exactly the reasons she’d said, in addition to the knowledge that however little she liked to think it mattered, Marcus was ten years older than she was. And he was a secret stress case who carried all his tension in his back and shoul- ders. She should know, since she’d nearly sprained her thumbs trying to dig the knots out during a massage that had started out sexy and turned into a to-the-death battle between Quinn and the long muscles lining Marcus’s spine. Marcus didn’t need to screw up his back by lying on the floor for eight hours, was her point. Not that she would ever say that to him. She didn’t have a death wish. […]

Read It, Track It is a way  to track books for my reading challenges and they will be super short.   Riptide is my second read in the Cutter Cay series.  I am reading the series in the lead up to the fourth book being released in March. The genre is romantic suspense which is one of my favorites. I did enjoy the mystery and action in Riptide.  Nick Cutter was interesting in his ability to read vocal accents and his government work. However, the billionaire guy with the gal down on her luck is a trope I hate. Nick seemed to think he should have sex with Bria because he’s attracted to her physically even though he sees her as […]

Read It, Track It is a way  to track books for my reading challenges and they will be super short.   I got this library book to decide if I wanted to read and review the upcoming fourth book in the Cutter Cay series. I’ve always wanted to read this author as my impression was it would be romantic suspense. For various reasons, I decided to do it so you will be seeing the next two books in these short reviews,  before the new one. It was fairly enjoyable to read. There are hot guys, treasure on the seas, and a lovely ocean paradise. There is mystery, action and adventure as the brothers go salvage treasure hunting on the ocean. The plots and […]

Almost everyone who’s read this series wanted Joe’s story. It’s not necessarily because of what we knew about him, but the last story ended with him barely surviving the boat accident. We just needed to know…more. He was a blank page so I didn’t have any expectations. Avery Crosslin meets Joe Travis at one of her weddings she’s managing, mistaking him for one of the photographer’s minions. Something about the brown-eyed redhead appeals to Joe and so begins his pursuit. She’s not interested, having barely survived her last relationship but…he’s a Travis so he doesn’t go away easily. This story is told from Avery’s point of view, but I still got a clear picture of Joe and how he fit into his family. […]
