Rachel, Ivy, Jenks, Kisten, Al and Trent are all back in Every Which Way But Dead. Rachel is a mess and I love every minute of it. Let’s see when we last saw her, she has received couple of demon marks from Al and she promised to be his familiar if he would help her bring Piscary to justice. So naturally Rachel’s been trying to avoid Al by not going into the Ever After. Oh and she made her boyfriend, Nick her familiar by mistake. After Rachel scares the crap out of Nick by using him as her familiar he’s been distance which has left Rachel feeling lonely and hurt. But have no fear there’s always other (better IMO) guys around that are both sexy […]

I’d heard so many positives about this series I was worried my expectations were too high and it would be a letdown. By the end of the book, that feeling wasn’t anywhere near my emotional state. Rather than talk about the details of the story, I’m focusing on the essence of it and certain elements that make this a standout book and series start. I’ll begin with the series namesake, Kate Daniels. She’s formidable as most UF heroines tend to be but in a very practical sense. Kate dresses for the part and you won’t find her in leathers or stiletto-heeled boots. Everything about her is calculated for success in life-threatening situations. She’s vulnerable, a bit cocky but not overly so. And, she’s still at […]

A fish called….Rachel. Rachel is floundering her way through life post IS. I am really surprised by the amount of humor in this series and we get a lot of it in the opening scene where Rachel is on her current job; to steal back a fish, a were team’s mascot. Rachel is learning that being on her own is not all rainbows. She’s still dealing with Ivy’s weird vampire emotions; never knowing if Ivy is going to kill her or vein rape her. Then there’s her consultant work with the FIB, where she’s helping in a serial killer case. But after messing things up on a murder scene Rachel goes from trying to nail Trent as the killer to working with him. Speaking […]

I’ve had this series on my TBR pile for years now after seeing people rave about it in one of my Shelfari groups. So when I saw books 1-5 in a used bookstore I picked them up for a cheap price. And they sat on my bookshelf for over two years. I figure I’ll get to them one day. I loaned out Dead Witch Walking to two friends and when they both brought me the book back saying they could not finish it I pushed it down my reading list. But after challenging myself to read as many of the books on my physical as possible in 2013 I decided it was time to finally start this series. I thought since most people have warned me that […]

I’ve been waiting for Dorian’s story but I have to say that Hostage to Pleasure was a little disappointing. Sure it has a hot alpha and a head strong heroine. But really this series as very predictable formula like so many PNR books do. I’m just not feeling this series at the moment. It’s not the writing, it’s my mood. I think I just need to take a break from it. And come back to see if it can get my attention again when my reading mood has changed. But in any case Dorian was hot and his Psy woman was like the others, cold until he melted her panties. Meh. I don’t have anything else to say about the book. But I think I […]

Audio Review: Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, I really enjoy it when the couple has a history instead of falling in love/lust after only knowing each other for a day. Mine to Possess is the first combo of Changeling and human mating. Clay is a leopard that joined the DarkRiver pack after growing up away from other Changelings. He didn’t know anything about his animal side and it made his younger years hard. Tally is the human in the relationship and Clay thought her to be dead for about 20 years. Tally has been scared of Clay ever since the day he killed her foster-father but not in the way Clay thinks. Tally finds herself lusting after her childhood protector even after their 20 […]

I was wondering how Judd, “The Ice Man” would be thawed. I mean so far the Psy in the couples have been women and all they needed as the touch of the hot Changeling men. A man like Judd would need more. But Brenna had just the right amount of heat to bring Judd to his knees. After Brenna’s ordeal in the last book, she really needed someone like Judd instead of a Changeling. She needed his coldness to get her through some rough times; a like of tough love. Judd might be Psy but he has feelings deep down and the ones that came out to play first was he need to protect Brenna like he did his family. Even though he didn’t realize […]

I’m going to go ahead and say it and I know I will get a few things thrown at me but I liked Roman more than Raphael. I hope that he gets his own book. Yes, yes, Raphael is sexy and I like him with Andrea better but I want to find out more about Roman. Ok, so Gunmetal Magic is a spin-off of Kate Daniels series, set in the same world. Much like what Jeaniene Frost did with her Night Huntress series. It can be read as a stand alone if you have not read the KD series but I highly recommend reading it if you have not. You will get some background on the Andrea and the world if you do. Gunmetal Magic […]
