Simon and Caroline are back for another round of baking, banging, and big life changes. Settling in, but never settling down, Caroline has finally struck a balance between the professional and the personal. As one of the top interior designers in San Francisco, she travels all over Northern California between nook time with Simon.

Perpetual globetrotter Simon has cut his frequent flyer miles in half over the last year, preferring to balance his professional and personal life, as well.

The next step in their lives seems preordained—toasts, veils, and the aisle of rose petals. But when an accident on a photo shoot in Southeast Asia brings Caroline the most terrifying phone call she could ever imagine, she has to ask whether “till death do us part” is a more realistic prospect than faces most couples.

It’s been a grand adventure, and Caroline and Simon wouldn’t go out without the best surprise ending ever. One part sexy, one part laughter, a dash of exotic locales, and one pink nightie, mixed with passion, and you’ve got Last Call.

I adore Alice Clayton’s Cocktail series! Clayton writes some of the wittiest romances I’ve ever read. Sure they are sexy but the fun banter behind the characters is what keeps me coming back and we get it in spades with LAST CALL.

While LAST CALL is generally about Caroline and Simon it’s we get updates on the previous couples, and a look into what their futures may hold. Some are married, getting married, had babies, have babies in the oven. This motley crew are growing up but some are still far from being a grown up. LOL

LAST CALL has it all. Romance, wedding cake, garlic foam and Clive’s own epilogue. I’m sad to see the Cocktail series come to an end but Alice Clayton found a great place to end it, leaving this reader wanting more!

Side note – I’ve listened to the rest of the Cocktail series and the narrator is the best fit for the series. I was afraid I would lose something by reading LAST CALL but nope. Clayton’s writing shines all on its own. But I highly recommend this series on audio!

Favorite scene:

“Trevor, my old friend from high school? you remember his wife, Megan, right?”
“You’re kidding, right?”
“Okay?” he said, squinting at me in a curious way.
“Megan was able to get me the single most important item in this entire house.”
“She got you the new vibrator?”
“Jesus . . . “
“Oh, the cookbook, right,” he said, remembering.

Ginger Hunk! Mai Tai’d Up by Alice Clayton

Ginger Hunk! Mai Tai’d Up by Alice Clayton

(Points up at review title) I never thought I would call a ginger a hunk. Sorry, no offense to gingers out there! But I’ve never found a male ginger sexy. I’ve seen pretty female gingers but not males. It’s like they are unicorns. LOL But WOW Lucas sounds so yummy, his gingerness and all. Granted he is a ginger with a tan and blue eyes. Ok now that I’ve rambled and probably offended my ginger readers I’ll move on. If you judged the Cocktail series by their covers you would think the series is on the very naughty side. But honesty it’s not. Sure there’s hot moments but for the most part the couples in each book get to know each other before they hit the […]

A MUST read for Romance Junkies! Screwdrivered by Alice Clayton

A MUST read for Romance Junkies! Screwdrivered by Alice Clayton

If you plan to read only one book in Alice Clayton’s Cocktail series it MUST be SCREWDRIVERED! Seriously ALL romance junkies should read it. Why? Viv is a secret romance reader and her romance novel daydreams had me LMAO and added smexy to many scenes. And often at the wrong time and about pirates, cowboys and more. When Viv gets a call in the middle of the night letting her know that her great-aunt has died and left Viv her house and land in California, Viv has sexual thoughts about a romance novel starting her and a cowboy. And yeah her aunt’s place comes with a cowboy. He’s hot and built. But he doesn’t have much going on past that. Another reason to read SCREWDRIVERED, […]

That Wallbanger is Back in Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton

That Wallbanger is Back in Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton

RUSTY NAILED has put Alice Clayton on my go to list for fun and sexy reads/listens. When we last saw Simon and Caroline they were going to see if they could make a long distance relationship work. Long distance in that Simon travels a lot for his job as a free-lance photographer while Caroline stays put in San Francisco for her job as an Interior Designer (not decorator!). Their relationship is not a conventional one and that works for them. Until Simon starts staying home more. And that only adds to the pressure that Caroline is feeling from work. Sure Caroline wishes Simon was around more but she understands his job and loves her alone time. Now that Simon is more available, Caroline is […]

I hear ya knocking! Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

I hear ya knocking! Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

I don’t usually jump on books that are so hyped up as Wallbanger has been. I like to let them settle for a while before I give them a try. I kept seeing other bloggers say it was a must read. That it was funny. I was in the mood for a funny contemporary so I decided to listen to Wallbanger. I thought that Wallbanger was going to be a hard-core erotic romance but it’s not and I was glad it wasn’t. I loved that Caroline and Simon didn’t sleep together until about ¾ of the way into the book. They don’t have an instant-a-love which is really refreshing. Sure there’s an instant-a-lust but they don’t give into it. They become friends then lovers. Caroline […]
