NICE GUYS BITE takes place after the events of UNRAVELED (#15). It is told from the point of view of Silvio Sanchez, Gin’s personal assistant.

Working for Gin Blanco (aka the Spider, the assassin who runs the Ashland underworld) doesn’t leave much time for romance, especially with Gin’s holiday party planning in full swing. But when he catches the eye of a charming gentleman, Silvio finds himself going out for coffee.

All’s fair in love and war, though. Just as Silvio is starting to enjoy himself, he realizes he’s being watched. His nice-guy date doesn’t sense the danger, and Silvio wants to keep it that way (and, well, keep the guy alive) so Silvio ends the date early—only to be abducted by some villainous giants.

Will Silvio survive the night and make it back to the Pork Pit in time for Gin’s holiday party? Only if he decks the hall with bodies …

Silvio is a character to watch!

Silvio has been growing on me as a part of Gin’s team. He can go toe to toe with Finn on the snarky one liners and putting away the food. Now after reading Nice Guys Bite we get to see that Silvio can hold his own when it comes to taking on the bad guys. He has some moves of his own, Gin would be proud of!

I will definitely look at Silvio different after reading Nice Guys Bite. He’s not just a pencil pusher for Gin. I loved how the novella wrapped up and how Silvio feels like he is part of a family with the gang.

Unraveled by Jennifer Estep

What can I say, Gin’s my girl! In Unraveled she shows the underbelly that there’s a new sheriff in town. I love that Unraveled has Philly in it! He’s a likable character like Finn and can deliver the snarky lines and is great to have for back up. Gin is working to figure how who is in the Circle, a super-secret group that we hear about in the previous book, Bitter Bite. While the plot for this installment starts out in Ashland, Gin, and her posse take a weekend vacation to Bullet Pointe. Bullet Pointe is a western theme park and hotel resort near Ashland and Finn got the deed to it from his dead mother. If you’re a fan of the series then you know that […]

Unwanted by Jennifer Estep

Unwanted by Jennifer Estep

If you’ve not read Bitter Bite there will be a mild spoiler.   Much like Owen needed to wrap up some things in his novella, Kiss of Venom, after Widow’s Web,  Finn needed to deal with the emotional fall-out of Bitter Bite in his own novella. Finn is alone for the most of Unwanted but it’s not because his friends aren’t around to help. He believes he deserves to be alone after mommy dearest almost killed him and a few of Gin’s group. Unwanted is how Finn feels after the bank robbery that killed many of his co-workers. They blame Finn for the deaths and so does he. Finn is no longer Mr. Popular at work and he would be ok with that if it wasn’t […]

Audio Review: Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep

Audio Review: Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep

I received a print copy of Bitter Bite for review from Pocket but since I’ve not listened to a Gin adventure since book 7, Widow’s Web but mind you I have the whole series on audio because I love how Fortgang performances Estep’s writing especially her voice for Finn so I decided to wait for the audio. I loved slipping back into this world and characters via Fortgang’s delivery. **Series Spoiler Head** I was so excited at the end of the previous installment when it was apparent that we were going to get some long overdue details about a character I’ve been wondering about since the first book in the series, Spider’s Bite. Who is Finn’s mother? What happen to her? Was she and Fletcher married? […]

Spider’s Trap by Jennifer Estep

Spider’s Trap by Jennifer Estep

While there are no spoilers for Spider’s Trap there may be mild spoilers for the previous book, Black Widow. There’s nothing unlucky about the 13th installment of Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series, Spider’s Trap. Estep continues to stay on the top of my urban fantasy reading list with Gin Blanco and her gang of sidekicks. In Spider’s Trap we see Gin dealing with her new job as the big boss of Ashland’s underworld. It’s fun to see how Gin deals with the more mundane parts of the job like mediating between the bosses of Ashland when we all know that Gin would rather use her 5 knife arse on them than to whine about their problems with each other. But with the new responsibility […]

Sloppy, Sloppy, Sloppy! Black Widow by Jennifer Estep

Sloppy, Sloppy, Sloppy! Black Widow by Jennifer Estep

There may be some mild spoilers for book 11, POISON PROMISE  ahead.       After POISON PROMISE I was a little worried going into BLACK WIDOW that we would get a sense of deja vu dealing with M.M. Monroe. But I was wrong and I should know by now to trust Jennifer Estep 100%. Gin Blanco, aka The Spider pretty much works alone but over the course of the series she’s had help from her friends and family. But BLACK WIDOW is an exercise in extreme team building, that’s for sure! Everyone gets into the act of taking down M.M. Monroe. All of the secondary characters you love are present plus the new addition to Gin’s team, Silvio Sanchez, Gin’s personal assistant. Silvio brings […]

Gin is Serving Up Some Kickass Pie in Poison Promise by Jennifer Estep

Gin is Serving Up Some Kickass Pie in Poison Promise by Jennifer Estep

While this review will be spoiler free for Poison Promise, it does make references to previous books. So if you are not up to date on the series there could be spoilers ahead.  Whether Gin is serving up triple chocolate milkshakes at the Pork Pit or serving up bad guys at the end of her knife you can guarantee that the service will come with a smile. Gin’s about to turn 31 and she’s not geared up to celebrate. It’s not turning 31 that bugs her, it’s the fact that bad things happen around her birthday. First years ago Mab killed her mother and older sister, then last year (that’s right, this wild and bloody ride has only been a year in Gin’s life) […]

Review: The Spider by Jennifer Estep

Review: The Spider by Jennifer Estep

Posted December 18, 2013 by Jennifer in Book Review | 8 Comments

With The Spider being the 10th book in the Elemental Assassin series one can’t help but wonder if Jennifer Estep can still bring the same outstanding writing and characters to us. I’m here to tell you that she can and she did! You could read The Spider without having read the series because Estep takes us back 10 years to show us a young and naive Gin in the early stages of her becoming The Spider but you will miss all the little easter eggs to events and characters that are throughout the series. It was fun to see how Estep did a “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon Gin Blanco” with very one from Mab Monroe, Slater, Dawson to Owen make cameos in The Spider. […]
