You've asked for years when Ophelia and Jamie would get their own story and now it's here! How will Ophelia adjust to living in a dorm room now that she has been banished from the Council and forced to matriculate at college with Jamie? Communal showers! Horrible, pretentious roommates! Humans who try to be FRIENDS! The horror!

This is a special review which is akin to Jennifer’s Read It, Track It where I am reading books for the COYER Winter Storm Challenge.

The Half-Moon Hollow series has been somewhat hit or miss for me. But what is always a home run is Molly Harper’s humor and the narration of Amanda Ronconi. And Dick Cheney.  I did read Big Vamp on Campus rather than listening, but I may go back and add the audio.

I enjoyed learning more about Ophelia. Her reaction to college life and developing personal relationships is interesting and understandable. I don’t feel like I know Jamie very well and consequently I don’t care about him too much. I’m not sure why some girls become her friend but I like it.

There is one part where Ophelia is told Jane wants her to email information and then Jane doesn’t seem to know about it. That loose thread has me worried.

Overall, this was fun. I’ll likely revisit it on audio. It looks like the next book, The Accidental Sire, available in July 2017, picks up where this one ends.

Fangs for the Memories by Molly Harper

Fangs for the Memories by Molly Harper

I’m a big fan of Dick  . . . Dick Cheney . . . the vampire Dick Cheney. Fangs for the Memories is an over due novella about Dick and Andrea while it’s labeled as being part of the Half-Moon Hollow series it should have come a couple of years ago in the Jane Jameson series. But since we get cameos from Jane and the gang in the Half-Moon Hollow series I guess it’s ok. If you’ve not read Harper’s Jane Jameson series you might not get as much enjoyment out of Fangs for the Memories because it goes back a couple of years and shows us how Dick and Andrea become a couple.  Fans know that Dick Cheney is a shading character that can […]

The Single Undead Moms Club by Molly Harper

The Single Undead Moms Club by Molly Harper

The Single Undead Moms Club is classic Molly Harper, romance with a bite of snark. This is my second time reading a Molly Harper book. I usually listen to them because I love her narrator, Amanda Ronconi. But since I’m on a budget and received a print copy for review I tried reading The Single Undead Moms Club. It was just as fun in print, even though I missed Ronconi’s voice delivering Harper’s snarky humor. It’s always fun seeing cameos from Jane and Dick. Seeing them in the new roles with the vampire council was a treat. Although I would have liked to see more of Dick but I have Fangs for the Memories to read next so I’ll get my Dick fix (wow that doesn’t say […]

The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire is the follow-up to the short I’m Dreaming of an Undead Christmas. First Thought: Seriously any author that can work in references to Daryl Dixon, Soft Kitty, My Little Pony (especially Rainbow Dash) and Dr Who into a paranormal romance it they not sounded forced is an author you should be reading! Gigi aka the human, computer geek: Gigi is the younger sister of Iris from The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires. Gigi was raised in part by Iris after their parents’ death. Iris runs a business that works with vampires and now Iris is one herself. So Gigi is no stranger to a life with vampires. In fact being a human has put her in the minority of […]

Audio Review: A Witch’s Handbook to Kisses and Curses by Molly Harper

Audio Review: A Witch’s Handbook to Kisses and Curses by Molly Harper

They’re back…. The team of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi never fails to entertain me. Between Harper’s witty writing and Ronconi’s spot on narration, A Witch’s Handbook to Kisses and Curses is full of flirty fun between an out-of-town witch, Nola Leary and a sexy handyman, Jed Trudeau. Nola, moved to Ireland from Boston after the death of her father at a young age. So she has an interesting mix of accents (which Ronconi pulls it off beautifully). Nola’s Irish side of the family has been in a feud with Kerrigans (they’re not ice skaters) another witch family for centuries. Because of this feud Nola returns to the States to find 4 magical artifacts that her family was tasked with guarding from the other family. […]

Audio Review: Undead Sublet by Molly Harper

I don’t do a lot of anthologies but when Audible.com offered up this Molly Harper short for FREE I grabbed it up since it was the only story I wanted to read in the anthology. Undead Sublet is a short story that takes place in Half Moon Hollow, the home town of Jane Jameson and if you are a fan of her series you should check out this story plus the other ones in the spin off series. And since Undead Sublet takes place in Jane’s town we get to see Jane and some of her friends while Tess is on sabbatical from her nervous breakdown from work. Tess rents a house from an overly perky lady in hopes of getting reason and relaxation […]
